Br. Jameel Shareef was the 2nd national coordinator of the Young Muslims Organization in the mid 90’s and is now currently serving as the principal of the Masjid Hamza Sunday School in Valley Stream, NY. In this seminar he will explore challenges related to transitioning from youth activism to community based work.
Some of the topics which will be covered are:
* Understanding the Creator, the Deen of Allah and the Amaana given to us
* Defining a worldly community and contrasting that with an Islamic Community
* Understanding Isolation, Integration and Assimilation
* A Brief look at current Islamic Community models
* Examining short-term and long-term Goals based on the Amaana
We will have a break for Salaah and lunch between 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 PM.
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM will be a questions and answers session and will serve as an open forum where ideas can freely be discussed.
