They know that we have bad muslims and good muslims. we do have organizations (CAIR, ISNA, MSAs in North America) and famous Muslim scholars (Hamza Yusuf, Zaid Shakir, Umar Farooq Abdullah, Husain Abdul Sattar, and more) that try their best to speak out, but when ur competing with CNN, Fox News, etc., it's hard. it also depends on your local area, maybe the Muslims there aren't so active in open discussions with everyone, but where i live we do a lot of out reach programs, community reviving, interfaith discussions and just general socializing events. because ppl like Osama and his friends get Airtime on TV. i have lived here all my life (new york to be specific). most new yorkers have a good descent view of Islam.
