You wouldn't waste your time? I wish you actually knew the truth. InshAllah, one day you will. Whatever texts you read, maybe you should make sure they're reliable. And if it's the Qur'aan, please read it in context and with a good translator (though something is always lost in translation). Think about it yourself. How many non-biased things are there in the media that actually portray Islam for what it is and not what some random people say. Muslims, real Muslims, don't advocate terror. They do not harm innocents, they do not do half the things non-Muslims think. We believe in the same God as the Jews and Christians. We do not promote racism or ignorance. I can read the texts too and come up with preposterous ideas about non-Muslims. But I try not to because that just adds fuel to the fire that is ignorance.
