Islam Growing in Rwanda [NY Times]

“Roman Catholicism has been the dominant faith in Rwanda for more than a century. But many people, disgusted by the role that some priests and nuns played in the killing frenzy, have shunned organized religion altogether, and many more have turned to Islam.”

SubhanAllah! Allah hu Akbar! I just read about the war in 1994 of Rwanda where two tribes fought each other and thousnads of innocent people died because of their ethnicity. The media presentation and article also talked about how it was mainly the Christian churches that were the battelgrounds where people would be killed by the prises who worked with the killers. It also said that because of this, Islam was attractive to the people, because the Muslims did not go by what tribe they belonged to but they were identified as Muslims whether or not which tribe they were from.

“Nobody died in a mosque,” said Ramadhani Rugema, executive secretary of the Muslim Association of Rwanda. “No Muslim wanted any other Muslim to die. We stood up to the militias. And we helped many non-Muslims get away.”

Allah hu Akbar! This is a must see. Please check it out!

Did you see the audio slideshow that came with it? The reporter seemed moved by it or something.

      Asalamu3alykum Warahmatulah

Masha Allah, ALLAHU AKBAR! Islam is sweeping Africa. Yes what happened in Rwanda was tragic many innocent lives were lost. It’s very sad. Have you all ever watched “Hotel Rwanda” it’s a movie based on the genocide that happened there that resulted in the deaths of up to one million people. It’s a very good movie, heart breaking but good.
      Shukran akhi great post!
Indeed Islam is were hearts find rest, mashallah.
