Terminator 2: Yowm al Qiyamah

Terminator 2Today I was at a Seerah program taught by Dr. Abdul Hakim Jackson, who told us a story about him watching Terminator 2: Judgement Day. He said that he cried in the movie. Yes! Cried in an while watching an action film. How? You’ll be amazed at the connection.

In the story the woman, Sarah Conner, knows what will happen to the human race if they don’t prepare. She knows that the machines will come and destory mankind, but sadly they don’t believe her. Instead they think she is insane and craze and lock her up. This is similar to that of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who knew the truth and knew that if his people did not accept Islam, they would be doomed. The Arabs during that time didn’t believe him and said he was insane and crazy. Well, we all know that, Islam eventually took over and was established, but in the early, years it was like that.

Funny how part of the title of the movie was, “Judgement Day”. Haha!

Anyways, I find it amazing how this connection was made. I have so much more! (But, I’ll save it for more posts, inshaAllah!)

Mecca2Medina responds to Yvonne Ridley

Mecca2MedinaRecently, Yvonne Ridley wrote an article about some Islamic Relief concert in England featuring Sami Yusuf and Mecca2Medina. She called Mecca2Medina a boy band, which is absolutely ridiculous. Mecca2Medina is a rap group from the UK with Caribbean origins. Who does she think she is? Here is a response to her offensive article:

Islam: Hip-Hop’s Official Religion

UPDATES: Okay, I’m sorry my whole list is wrong, but every rapper listed is, was, and will be (InshaAllah) a Muslim. Many of them are 5 percenters and members of Nation of Islam, making them not under the category of Sunni Islam. I’m sorry to those people who I have confused, but this topic really facinates me. The effect Islam has on Hip-Hop is huge! Literally every rapper knows a Muslim and knows a little about Islam. Afterall, Imam Suhaib Webb first became interested with Islam through Hip-Hop music.
Ice Cube(in no particular order)
Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Lupe Fiasco, Nas, AZ, Mos Def, K Salaam, Swizz Beats*, Talib Kweli, Proof (inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon), Bizarre*, N.O.R.E. (Noreaga), Q-Tip, Ice Cube, The Roots, Public Enemy, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Common, Salam Wreck, Akon, Ali, DJ Khaled from the Terror Squad (haha), Havoc of Mobb Deep, Mister Cee, Styles P*, Al’ Tariq (former member of the Beatnuts), Eve, T-Pain, Akil and Zaakir of Jurassic 5, and Everlast (former member of House of Pain) all have something common. They are all Muslims. Regardless of their lifestyles, lyrics and actions they have accepted Allah as their creator and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His messenger. (*Rumor)

MTV Banned Ads

For the first time (at least to me) MTV has advertised something positive, halal and healthy for young people. Too bad the US governmnet banned them. Why? I don’t really know. You know how our government is. Probably because the 3 pictures had the 9/11 scene on them. I loved the ads. It makes you think about the real problems of the world. Thank you MTV for making them!

Would we, as Muslims, live happily under an Islamic State?

I was thinking about this the other day. What would it be like to live under an Islamic government. To live in an Islamic country, an Islamic environment, where everything is ruled by the Qur’an and sunnah. I know you must be thinking it is like living during the time of the Prophet (saas) when they were living in Medina, but yet that was during that time. Now there are many different rulings, different opinions, different beliefs and understandings of what Islam is and should be. How would we all get along together in an Islamic state or we would still be divided amongst ourselves, even if we are ruled by ourselves? Is an Islamic state just a dream?

What about the many thigns we enjoy that aren’t so ‘halal’, so to speak. Like movies, computer games, TV shows, sports, games, etc. All those recreational things which young Muslims all over the world, including Muslim countries, enjoy. Would be able to go see Harry Potter or X-Men 3 under an Islamic State? What about playing basketball in the middle of the night? What about our MSAs? Conferences? Lectures? All these things which we all enjoy now, would they be still available for us under an Islamic state.

I am having problems displaying my blog correctly on IE. I really don’t like IE 6.0. It’s not as good as Firefox. Everyone should get it! I took snapshots of what the problems are when my blog is being displayed on IE. This is specifically when you are looking at single post. (Click the image to see the full size.)

IE View

Does anyone know how to fix these displaying problems on IE?
