Today I was at a Seerah program taught by Dr. Abdul Hakim Jackson, who told us a story about him watching Terminator 2: Judgement Day. He said that he cried in the movie. Yes! Cried in an while watching an action film. How? You’ll be amazed at the connection.
In the story the woman, Sarah Conner, knows what will happen to the human race if they don’t prepare. She knows that the machines will come and destory mankind, but sadly they don’t believe her. Instead they think she is insane and craze and lock her up. This is similar to that of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who knew the truth and knew that if his people did not accept Islam, they would be doomed. The Arabs during that time didn’t believe him and said he was insane and crazy. Well, we all know that, Islam eventually took over and was established, but in the early, years it was like that.
Funny how part of the title of the movie was, “Judgement Day”. Haha!
Anyways, I find it amazing how this connection was made. I have so much more! (But, I’ll save it for more posts, inshaAllah!)
Recently, Yvonne Ridley wrote an article about some Islamic Relief concert in England featuring Sami Yusuf and Mecca2Medina. She called Mecca2Medina a boy band, which is absolutely ridiculous. Mecca2Medina is a rap group from the UK with Caribbean origins. Who does she think she is? Here is a response to her offensive article:
‘I would like to offer my deepest
thanks and gratitude to all the
scholars, the friends, the
students, male and female, in
Syria and throughout the world,
who supported me and my
children and Umm Ibrahim’s
family in this difficult time.
Nothing is enough to thank the
many thousands of brothers and
sisters in Damascus and around
the globe who stood with us
during this trial.’
SubhanAllah! My 3rd year at university is complete. Time really flies. I can still remember my freshman days at Stony Brook University. It’s really sad…..PSSHH! NOT! SCHOOL IS OVER! THE SUMMER IS HERE! HOLLLAAA!
Serious note: Everyone is requested to make dua (prayer) that we all get good grades in our exams and final grades, inshaAllah. Ameen!

Congratulations to Junaid Arshad, Fahad Tirmizi & Naveed “N Veed” Ahmed who are graduating.
For the first time (at least to me) MTV has advertised something positive, halal and healthy for young people. Too bad the US governmnet banned them. Why? I don’t really know. You know how our government is. Probably because the 3 pictures had the 9/11 scene on them. I loved the ads. It makes you think about the real problems of the world. Thank you MTV for making them!
I saw this on Realm of Truth and I had to post it up here. I am definetly going to try see this movie. Anyone want to go with me? It’s showing in NYC on May 24.
I was thinking about this the other day. What would it be like to live under an Islamic government. To live in an Islamic country, an Islamic environment, where everything is ruled by the Qur’an and sunnah. I know you must be thinking it is like living during the time of the Prophet (saas) when they were living in Medina, but yet that was during that time. Now there are many different rulings, different opinions, different beliefs and understandings of what Islam is and should be. How would we all get along together in an Islamic state or we would still be divided amongst ourselves, even if we are ruled by ourselves? Is an Islamic state just a dream?
What about the many thigns we enjoy that aren’t so ‘halal’, so to speak. Like movies, computer games, TV shows, sports, games, etc. All those recreational things which young Muslims all over the world, including Muslim countries, enjoy. Would be able to go see Harry Potter or X-Men 3 under an Islamic State? What about playing basketball in the middle of the night? What about our MSAs? Conferences? Lectures? All these things which we all enjoy now, would they be still available for us under an Islamic state.
I am having problems displaying my blog correctly on IE. I really don’t like IE 6.0. It’s not as good as Firefox. Everyone should get it! I took snapshots of what the problems are when my blog is being displayed on IE. This is specifically when you are looking at single post. (Click the image to see the full size.)
Does anyone know how to fix these displaying problems on IE?
The masked robbers, armed with a handgun and a knife, took cigarettes, two cell phones, a wallet and about $60 in cash before fleeing, Little said. The victims, all male undergraduate students, were not hurt, he said
