Imagine Getting Married in Mecca

I was talking about how I want to get married in a masjid (mosque), and then the Kaaba popped in my head. Imagine getting married next to the Kaaba. You wouldn’t have to worry about space. You could invite anyone and everyone. SubhanAllah! It’ll be cheap too. It’ll just cost the airfare to go to Saudi Arabia.

For anyone that lives in or lived in Mecca: do they peform nikkah’s next to the Kaaba?

Open Apology regarding the “extremist Salafi” post

You may have read a post entitled “Is it just or me or are all Muslim terrorists upon the [extreme] Salafi manhaj”. After reading and listening what many ‘Ulema have said about disagreement and sectarian politics. This audio (old, but good) reminded me of my stupid actions and I took down the post.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and Shaykh Muhammad al Yaqoubi – Advice to the Seekers

I apologize for writing that post. It was an emotional rant off the top of my head with no factual evidence. I never realized until that post, how serious people take my posts and my blog.

May Allah (swt) forgive me and us all. Ameen!

Round of 16 Review

roundof161.jpgquarter-finals.jpgThe 2006 FIFA World Cup Round of Sixteen was full of exciting and surprising games. Germany is looking strong with there easy win over Sweden. They scored the games 2 only goals within the first 12 minutes of the match. After that Sweden struggled and never answered back.

Portugal moved on defeating the Netherlands 1 – 0. Netherlands played hard but were unlucky with there shots and possession. Nothing spectacular about this match. This game had so many yellow cards that it was exponential. It was a very physical game.

I feel really sorry for Australia. They got robbed of there chance to move on. In the 95th minute (stoppage time) a penalty was called when Gross went into the box and was tackled. Most people said he fell on his own, but the referee called a penalty kick. Totti took it and scored the winning goal. Australia out on a good peformance though, but Italy was amazing when they played the 2nd half with only 10 men, when Materazzi received his red card in the 50th minute.

Shocking and stale, but exciting game between Switzerland and Ukraine. It went into 2 15-minute extra time and still it was 0 – 0. So they went to the penalty shootout where Ukraine owned them 3 – 0. I was really suprised at Switzerland. They were the favorites and they (supposedly) had a better team. Ukraine is a surprise team in the quarter finals, just like Ghana was in the round of 16.

England struggled as usual throughout this World Cup barely trying to get a goal. They scored only 1 goal against a powerful Ecuador. Beckham scored the goal that allowed England to move on to the quarter finals. If England wants to win, they need to step up and improve there game.

Everyone said Argentina was looking strong until they came to there 3rd game of the 1st round against Netherlands drawing with them. They also drew with Mexico after the regular time of 90 minutes (+ stoppage time) 1 – 1. In extra time though they stepped up and finally scored and didn’t allow Mexico to answer back. Although Argentina won, Mexico played really good and they have an amazing team.

Ronaldo is back! He has the world record for the most goals in the world cup. What now all you Brasil haters! Hahahahah! They defeated Ghana 3 – 0. The (wack) ESPN commentators kept on saying how Ghana was really good throughout the game and how Brasil wasn’t playing that well, even after the 3 goals. I really dislike the ESPN commentators for the World Cup matches. Anyways Ghana did play good, but not good enough to defeat the reigning champions. Brasil has only improved there game throughout the World Cup.

France struggled with Spain with ball posession in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, France took over the show and Zidane had the last goal making it 3 – 1 in the 92nd minute.

After the round of 16, the only teams that are still looking strong are Germany and Brasil. Those are the teams I predict will be in the final World Cup match.

Quarter Final Predictions:

Germany will beat Argentina. Italy will beat Ukraine. Portugal will beat England. Brasil will beat France. InshaAllah.

OH YEAH! For all those people who will be going to the ICNA convention this weekend, your invited to watch all the mathces that weekend with me. Just holla at me for details (mujahideenryder at gmail.com)

Saudi: “Mom, your wicked, so I can’t take care of you when you get old”

This news story is really sad. An elderly woman living in the country which currently controls the two most holiest cities to Muslims in the world (Mecca and Medina) can’t get any type of health or food aid, since her children refuse to help her because she is ‘wicked’, and the the charities can’t give her anything, since her children are well-off. Where are the religious police of Saudi? Probably too busy hunting down people doing biddah.

Abandoned by Sons, Elderly Woman Lives in Stairwell
Arab News
Â
JIZAN, 19 June 2006 — A 90-year-old woman has been forced to live in the stairwell of a building in Jizan without light, ventilation and a toilet because her children do not want to take care of her, Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.

The woman is in poor health with her eyesight deteriorating. Without access to a toilet the old woman is forced to use plastic bags to relieve herself. A foul smell constantly lingers in the stairwell.

According to locals, the woman is not getting help from charitable people because her sons are financially secure. Besides two sons, the woman has four daughters who live with their husbands. A daughter who lives in Jizan said she did not help her mother because she was “wicked”.

Though the woman is of Yemeni nationality her sons are Saudi citizens.

Al-Watan reported that local people wondered how the sons and daughters could be so cruel to their mother while it is the religious obligation of every believer to care for their parents in old age.

With life expectancy in the Kingdom rising as a result of advanced health care facilities, caring for the aged is increasingly becoming a social problem.

World Cup Recap – June 20 to June 23

finalscores - june 20 - 23.jpgroundof16.jpgToday wrapped up the 1st stage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. In group A, Germany and Poland move on. Germany easily defeated Ecuador 3 – 0. Poland struggled a little bit with Costa Rica but eventually came up on top 2 – 1.

Trinidad and Tobago! What a year for them. First time ever in the World Cup and drawing with Sweden. They still earned 1 point and did an amazing job playing all 3 games. Sadly they lost to Paraguay 2 – 0. Paraguay is also out. England and Sweden both move on. They played each other and tied 2 – 2.

Everyone thought Argentina was really good until they drawed with the Netherlands. Maybe they didn’t try that hard since they knew they were moving on and same the Netherlands. An outstanding peformance by the Ivory Coast against Serbia and Montengro. Ivory Coast scored 3 goals, 2 of which were penalty shots and earned 3 points winning 3 – 2. Both, the Ivory Coast and Serbia and Montengro were knocked out.

Portugal won group D after defeating Mexico 2 – 1. It was a heavily contested game in the first half with the all goals being scored then. Iran tied with Angola, but both teams are not moving on.

In group E or the “group of death” Ghana shocked the entire world defeating the USA and moving on to the next round. Ghana is the only African nation out of the 5 of them to move on to the next round. Mad props to Ghana! The US team needs to play some tougher teams in order for them to move on. They also need younger players. Italy won group E defeating the Czech Republic 2 – 0. Italy and Ghana move on from that group.

Brasil won group F, with an amazing game against Japan 4 – 1. Ronaldo had 2 goals which made him tie with the most goals ever by anyone in the World Cup. Brasil was doing so well that they subbed out Ronaldinho! Haha! Australia tied with Croatia, allowing Australia to move on with Brasil from that group.

Of group G, France had to win against Togo to move on, and they did 2 – 0. Switzerland defeated Korea also allowing them to move on. It’s a good thing France one, because if they lost, that would have been it for Zidane.

Tunisia and Saudi Arabia both lost and are not moving on. Spain and Ukraine took care of them 1 – 0 fo reach game and moved on to the next round. Man! Tunisia had a chance. Even Saudi did too! Oh well!

azhar.jpgThis was before Sami Yusuf responded to her, but Azhar Usman (Muslim Comedian from the Allah Made me Funny Tour) wrote a letter about a month ago to Yvonne regarding her little rant. Mecca2Medina also responded to her a while back.
Azhar Usman writes:

It is a rant written by a new convert (who saw the “beauty of Islam” at the hands of the Taliban, incidentally), based on a literalist and highly ideological, fundamentalist understanding of the religion of Islam.
