I don't know why what was in italics. Sorry.

Anyway, the point I wanted to make was that the tattoos were indeed before he became "religious" as you say. But the religion, or form of Islam that he was introduced to in prison was the 'radical' version.

More people are led astray by 'bad' imams/preachers in prisons than any where else. This type preaching should be stopped in prison. The prisoners are a captive audience, usually not so bright as with Zarqawi, and easily led astray.

The other bombings/arrests/etc. that took place simultaneously and immediately after Zarqawi's safe house was hit, were done as a result of intelligence obtained leading up to that bombing. Also as many as 40 other places were investigated for terrorists as a result of information gained from Zarqawi's house. No matter what the conspiracy theories are, the US doesn't just go in and drop bombs on innocent people for the fun of it.

Other information on Zarqawi's history:

"He grew up in poverty, dropped out of school and took to heavy drinking, tattoos and fighting. <b>Allegedly jailed for sexual assault, he embraced militant Islam</b> and travelled in Afghanistan in 1989. With the Soviets already defeated, he was left to edit a magazine for demobilised mujaheddin" ...

"Reportedly jailed for possessing arms in 1993, Zarqawi became a taciturn loner; fellow prisoners recalled him intimidating inmates with a mere glare. When not studying the Qur'an, he would lift weights to beef up his slight frame. Released in an amnesty in 1999, he was soon to be sentenced in absentia for plotting to bomb tourists celebrating the new millennium at the Radisson SAS hotel in Amman. He joined Bayat al-Imam (Loyalty to the Imam), a radical Jordanian clique led by another former convict, Issam Barqawi, also allegedly planned to kill Christians pilgrims.

If America wanted to, they could have bombed his resisdence long time ago...so why now? Right after Zarqawi was killed, there were approximately 12-14 bombings over civillian sites (random villages, etc.) by US Troops. So perhaps bombing Zarqawi's residence was just a ploy to deflect <strike>some</strike> all attention from the civillian casualties? Perhaps it was done so that headlines grabbed Zarqawi's death whilst hundreds of other 'unimportant' civillians died in the bombings by the coalition forces? It's not important to you or me if Zarqawi was indeed a good muslim or a bad muslim...that has no relevance to us, because, well, he's dead, and will only be accountable to Allah for his deeds now. Meanwhile, the implications that these events have over Iraqi civillians, is something that is more important and needs urgent attention.
