Zidane not the man!

Can someone please explain to me why Zidane did this:

I have no clue either. I have lost a lot of respect for Zidane. He should have walked off his anger. Regardless of what Materazzi said, he is the captain of the France team, the top player in the game and it’s his last World Cup game. He should have controlled his anger.

Italy won. Fair and square! I knew France was going to lose. Click here for a short recap of the game.

nooo he is THE man. lol. Im disapointed he ended his carrer in this way…damn arabs cant take any heat. lol. but I honestly wonder what that Italian player said to get him that pissed? oo the rumors will begin. haha

and ahah that was a sweet headbutt. mashAllah ya Zidane. LOL

    4. Jamroll July 9th, 2006 at 6:13 pm

      Salam,

Well actually he’s not Arab. He’s a Berber from Algeria. Berbers would be pretty offended at being called Arab.

Secondly yeah, it was sad, but look at his whole career. He is the man!

i know what zidane did was terrible and at the wrong timing but u cant just automatically lose respect for someone just from one incident without considering the other point of view. what if the italian player said some racist slur or something really terrible to instigate zidane? you can’t just lose respect for someone who’s had a great career and had many accomplisment by one mere incident. that’s plain stupid.

ps i really hate your reply method.. this is my second time replying and it all erased cuz i didnt type in my email..

I never was a fan of Zidane. He made me mad in 98. I’ve always been a Brasilian fan.

But yeah, he is a very good player. I said in the post, he was the top player in the game. So I do respect his skills, but not his attitude.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME HE HAS DONE THIS. I think he stomped a Saudi player cuz he was angry.

    8. Salman July 9th, 2006 at 6:20 pm

Yea, he stomped on a Saudi player in 98, got suspended for it i think 2 games.

I dont care what was said to him, you think people dont say things? They probably say things *all* the time.

      What a disgrace…

    9. Radeyah July 9th, 2006 at 6:21 pm

I respect Zidane no matter what. I know he has a lot of anger in him, but the guy has defied all odds in life to get to this point…He even has a genetic disorder where he doens’t produce enough hemoglobin but still managed to be one of the world’s great. I blame Zidane’s anger on france and I’m pretty sure that Italian dude said some nasty rascist comment to him. I don’t condone his action but I can see where it probably came from. With that I think I’m going to name my first son Zidane

    10. anon July 9th, 2006 at 6:24 pm

      ah yes.. the code verification

yes i’ve heard about the saudi foot stomping incident. it’s obviously the internal pressures, such as stress, fatigue and emotion that went thru his head. i dont think he could “control” himself, even though he should have tried to look at the situation… but anger gets the best of you, especially for guys. so yeah. It’s not completely excusable but i’d rather find out what the italian player said to zidane that made him react.

    11. meraj July 9th, 2006 at 6:33 pm

it was completely wrong of him, no doubt.. but seeing how it was totally out of character for him, you shoudl hear his side first before outright condemning him. a person with zidane’s temperment and personality doesnt just do stuff like that over petty stuff. he must have been seriously and deliberately provoked by the italian player.

    12. anon July 9th, 2006 at 6:35 pm

on salman’s comment, there’s far more class in soccer than any other game. there’s more sportsmanship and etc, unlike american football. zidane’s a respectable guy. i believe that sportsmanship outweighs conflicts involved between players in soccer… in this instance, it obviously didnt because two players couldn’t cooperate. if the ref was present through the whole situation maybe the italian guy could have also be penalized. i believe that they replayed that incident on the screen, and ref made the decision from there to kick zidane out of the game.

you can say all you want to the opposing players, just don’t do anything physical to them to hurt them. it’s all psychological game strategy.

      this goes in any sport.

zidane could have just said something back and walked away, but he used his head, and he walked away (away from the field) hahahahahahahahaha.

He shouldn’t of hit him. We can only assume the best that what was said to him was bad, or should we assume the best from the Italian player. He is an amazing player, but I did lose a lot of respect for him. For him to have been such a well respected player up to this point and to throw it away in the closing minutes, terrible ending. It is our final moments that will define everything for us, in our dunya for our Aakhira. You could be good the whole way through, and then mess it up at the end, and vice versa. Be careful!

    17. MilkShaykh July 9th, 2006 at 8:37 pm

I feel so bad for Zidane, he should have kept his composure, both sides were frustrated…but let Zidane tell his story, Mazzerati could have said something, in competitions, especailly intense ones, people start to become foul mouthed and taunt others…

The saddest sight was when Zidane was leaving the field and stepped down the steps, he walked right past the World Cup…what a sad situation to be in…at least they should have let him come to get his medal, he deserved a nice ovation.

Zidane, no matter what, was an amazing player, one of the best, and his legacy will live on for a long long time!

It was a close match, Italy had the upper-hand this time. France enjoyed a World cup victory in 98, so it was time for another equally skilled team to win. Let the Italians have their day. The French will avenge eventually. Head but was uncalled for though; but he’s Zidane is human…so don’t get all over his back for one time he couldn’t control his anger…70 excuses! haha

I did not get the chance to watch the game live, but after watching the head butt I have to say he brings a whole new meaning to hard-headed. Ahahaha. But seriously, I don’t get why everyone is “losing respect” for the guy. He is a soccer player, not a saint. And it was the 117th minute of the game! I’m not saying he was right, but he is human after all. And yet what a way to go! SubhanAllah.

Zidane is still the man. Yes, he did something terrible at the wrong place( world cup, which over a billion people watch) and at the wrong time( end of the game and the end of his career). He will be noted for this for the rest of his life and French football. But…com’on give me a break which soccer star did not do something terrible: Rivaldo( watch WC2002 VS. Turkey) or Beckham( WC 1998 vs. Argentina). He may have overreacted, but it must have been for somethins really terrible. If you would have said something invoking to me after 110 minutes of intense soccer, I would have rather kicked with my metal studs. Yeah I am little violent at times.

    31. Sheraz July 10th, 2006 at 4:53 am

MR you are wrong, Zidane is a quiet man, while Materazzi is not a quiet man and furthermore he is provocative and disrespectful (as all the Italian team). I already knew it before seeing this video.

The fact that France lost I accept it but that we speak about Zidane as an irascible man, it is totally wrong. MR you appreciate a team which has no honor. Italy is a very racist country and team, furthermore there is a terrible scandal in their country concerning the cheating of the scores of the matches and the purchase of the arbitrator.
Italians (specially Materazzi) are in the habit of provoking physically and verbally their opponents so that they make errors so that they are expelled. This team don’t play according to the rule book of football.

Zidane is a big respectful man contrary to Materazzi. Zidane made some errors which count on the fingers of a hand. But for Materazzi, them we would need fingers of 10 persons, even more, to be able to count them. Materazzi is irascible born.

We have a beginning of explanation for Zidane’s gesture but it has to be confirmed.

I’m actually a Brasilian fan (for the 1000th time). The world cup is no fun when your not rooting for a team, so I was rootin for Italy. Regardless of what the players have done or the corruption, blah blah blah. They won the World Cup.

What Rule in the game of Footbal says you can’t taunt the players? You can do that. It’s bad, but you can do it, just dont un-necessarily attack them. Materazzi is smart, he hit Zidanes red spot and made him explode, causing him to get the red card. That is exactly what Italy wanted.

No matter what. No one can defend what Zidane did. If Materazzi is known for talking trash on the fields, Zidane out of all the players should have known this and kept on going.

Finally, Allah (swt) willed it. This was written for Zidane. He has to deal with it.

Over 1 billion people saw it, and this is how Zidane will be remembered for a long time, which is really sad, because he was a damn good player (even though I’m not a fan of him).

Zidane had a few seconds to think twice before attacking Materazzi, but chose not to. What ever it was that Materazzi said to Zidane must have obviously been extremely insulting, something concerning either his arab roots, muslim religion, his family…who knows!! but Zidane shouldnt have sunk to his level, im sure it was worth it! to cost him his “finale moment”!
all i know is that Zidane is AMAZING! and i love the italian team!!:D

for the record… i heard that: Ribery, Henry, Viera & Thuram were all muslim converts?! hope so!!

After having seen the TV press, I have a little more piece of information.

Zinédine zidane said to Materazzi that he had encircled him, preventing him from playing the balloon. Then Zidane goes away and continues his road but Materazzi continued to speak and he offended his mother in a vulgar way. Materazzi also held racist comments on his origins. That is why, while he went away, he returned abruptly and struck Materazzi.
During almost 2 hours, during all the match Materazzi launched difficult words to Zidane (psychological warfare in the Italian manner to irritate the player).

Furthermore, Zidane was in such a psychological state. His trainer who noticed him when he was 15 years old died 3 days ago, his mother is sick (in a precarious state) and he cared a lot for her. It is necessary to add the Italian provocations, many would have cracked.

Materazzi is a player hated in Italy, every time he plays, he is whistled and hooted in stadiums except in Inter Milan. It is an agitator, the fact who he allowed Italy to win, will restore a little of credit to his shit image.

I don’t excuse gesture’s Zidane but I explain it. Frankly, many people would do same thing because the Mama it is sacred. World cup or not World cup.

Trézeguet and Buffon (Italian goal keeper) are friends, they play both in the same Italian team. They train every day together, Trézeguet was badly placed to fire because Buffon knew his manner to shoot at goal. Without that, FRANCE would have won this World cup.

Don’t you think the French coach knew about Trezeguet and Buffon?

Regardless, Trezeguet missed the penalty shot regardless of Buffon being the goalie. If you look at the replay, Buffon went the other way. So either way Italy would still have won. There is no point in saying France would have won, because in Islam, whatever has hapened in the past, has already happened and there is nothing that can be done to change. It was all written when the Earth was created by Allah. Allah (swt) willed it even before FIFA was created.

And according to my post, Zidane has not revealed what was said to anyone yet. Those are just rumors. Zidane has apologized to the French team and also he is very sad and DISAPPOINTED in himself. He should be. There is no explanation or defense for his action. Nothing. People can blame Materazzi and say Italians are mean and suck and talk a lot of trash, but no matter what, Zidane physically attacked him. That’s what matters. That’s what counts.

It was the will of Allah. There is nothing that can help Zidane, except for him to make dua to Allah.

Italians even if they are won the World cup are all the same cheaters because they are obliged to provoke faults to dominate their opponents.

Worry about the Day of Judgement instead of Italians being cheaters.

Sorry Uncle/Aunty. You are right. We must hate the Italians. They are all cheaters and mean nasty players. Zidane was right to head butt them.

      Ma’salama Uncle/Aunty.

Oh, puleaze. Sheraz, your patriotism is kind of sickening. You’d prefer to believe some massive conspiracy rather than just accept that France lost. They lost, OK – second place isn’t that bad!

    46. Sheraz July 10th, 2006 at 10:43 am

Yes, according to your answer, yes you are a child, you allow yourself comments which I would not make. I don’t use a vocabulary correct because I don’t speak a fluent English.

God thank you I’m not your aunt.

    51. Radeyah July 10th, 2006 at 11:44 am

I think MR and Sheraz need to realize that football is causing major fitna between the two of you so I suggest you both agree to disagree and apologize for offending each other. Zidane’s head butt is not worth causing dissent among Muslims. Zidane is ultimately responsible for his own actions and you two debating it won’t help him or anyone else.

What you talkin about. Celebrating? I got 2 final exams which i was studying before the World Cup and AFTER the world cup. INshaAllah they’ll be easy. I’m busy planning a basketball tournament for Darfur and also have to preapare for Khutbah this week.

If I was celebrating, Brasil would have won the world cup.

      that was a sweet headbutt.

why is every1 else so ‘disappointed’ in Zidane and his career and his blah – blah – blah..HAs it ever occurred to you that he may not care what you think? THat maybe he plays becuz he likes to and not for your approval lol..im sure the man was well aware of his surroundings, he was well aware of what time it was, and that it was his last game and so on and so forth.

Im not saying thats a way id like to go out..but apparently he doesn’t mind..and saying things like “tsk tsk tsk ..im dissappointed, he’s gonna be remembered like that” is just sad on your part becuz u choose to sum up a man’s character, a man’s career, a man’s talent by the few last moments.

      Boggles me.

      To Radeyah :

“football is causing major fitna between the two of you”
It is in Iraq where there is a civil war between the Moslems, the war which was caused by the invasion of the USA in Moslem land. You know MR, by your country.

      To MR :

In the first place, you are sarcastic and I don’t support the sarcasms.
Secondly, we don’t agree on many things, not only on Zidane. You are mistaken FRANCE while we Moslems of France as well as other European countries we would never like to live in the USA for nothing in the world.

You seem to think that the USA have a better attitude towards Moslems than in France, it is your opinion not mine.
The USA are racists notably in the South, the afro-Americans live very bad there. The Native American are, or became rich thanks to the casino creation or alcoholics unemployed persons… So don’t try to give me a lesson, by asking me if in France Moslems have job. The different ethnic minorities are more touched by the unemployment than the Whites in USA.

In France all those from minorities are not all Moslems but yes there is some unemployment within ethnic minorities of France.

      Why I don’t love USA ?

It is an imperialist country which wants to govern and to impose its views on the whole world.
It is not France which invaded Iraq for oil petroleum and it is not French who raped a Moslem Iraqi woman and then killed her family.
It is not the USA which used the nuclear weapon ? While the emperor Japanese had signed his surrender. Now, the USA forbid to Iran to obtain the nuclear weapon while USA is the only country in the world to have used it on a civil population. It is not the USA which offer an unconditional support for Israel ? While this country oppresses the Moslem Palestinians.

I would not support a moment to live in a country such as the USA which invaded a Moslem country creating a civil war.

I like France for many reasons, among others, because it refused to invade Iraq, I like old Europe simply. Another thing I am French Muslim and not only a Muslim.
France is a colored country which wants to stay in peace. But you are blinded by your francophobia.

Don’t worry it is one of my last messages on your blog.

A last thing, I saw photos of you, notably one, you wore a T-shirt on which he had written fitna police. You should leave for Iraq, maybe you would be capable of terminating the fitna caused by your country the USA.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! I have a preference and you call it “patriotism”. Me, I do not show the French flag on the roof of my house contrary to the Americans. I do not cry, the hand to the heart in the listening of the French national anthem contrary to the Americans.

But you can think what you want

i hate the american governent and its policies. bush is a monkey and an idiot.

but america is still better in treating muslims then france. it’s very simple. if you simply can’t wear a scarf on your head in the PUBLIC schools in france, then that prooves tha france is worse then america in terms of freedom of religion.

france has no freedom of religion like america. but america still sucks, and bush is the biggest terrorist on the planet.

It will be my last message because I go back at home and I don’t have a computer anymore, it fell out of order.
I discovered your blog by one of my knowledge, Nadia, who wrote, before, often on the blog of Hamed. Frankly, she has never wanted to leave messages on yours, lol. I understand better why now, lol.

I close the debate about France et USA because anyway, you will not make me change opinion and I wouldn’t manage to make you change opinion.

      Personal message to Nadia :

Thank you for your reception in your home, to have allowed me to use your PC, lol.
My congratulations for your university year. My Congratulations, you will be, next year, to the Sorbonne university, Mashallah. Big Respect !

      To MR :

And to finish, MR, I apologize for having said to you, idiot, stupid guy and boy. I didn’t want to offend you.

Ma’salama to each of you. May Allah protects you, amin.

Post scriptum : But maybe that I would return, when I would have the occassion, on your site ;) .

Ps : You didn’t rather want to say “relation” instead of “knowledge” ? LOL !!!
