This is another example of Muslims in America helping the less fortunate in America. If you have the time October 14-15 and are close to one of the locations, contact them to volunteer.

Did you send it in to Fox? If not, then send it. I think they should show it. Maybe they don’t know about it.

alhamdullila that we work without wanting to be recognized, while some only work for recognition. may our only wish be His wish, and our recognition His.

      More Hispanics drawn to Islam

Apparently the UMMA clinic is highly trusted by the Hispanic community, it’s free and they don’t have to fear being deported if they visit the clinic.

In South Central Los Angeles, a group of Muslim UCLA students a decade ago established a medical clinic in this underserved area. Today the nonreligious University Muslim Medical Association Community Clinic treats some 16,000 patients, mostly Hispanic, who see it as a safe place to seek care without fear for their illegal status, says Mansur Khan, vice chairman of the board and one of the founders.

Although the clinic doesn’t seek Muslim converts, Dr. Khan sees Hispanics taking an interest in his faith because it focuses on family, he says. One volunteer nurse founded a Latino Islamic organization in the area. Another Hispanic woman told Khan she felt drawn to the faith because of the head covering Muslim women wear. It reminded her of the Virgin Mary.

I’ve been to the clinic here in LA a couple of times. It’s true- the conditions in the city are deplorable. But people only see visions of the rich and famous when they think of LA…

I’ve also met Lynn Salahi and Yasir Aman and their passion for the cause is so inspirational. They even sponsored a health Day at our Masjid where people can get free haelth screenings.(They take donations, hint hint)

      Thanks for posting this.

Al-Hum-du-lilah, it’s great to see such compassion and care for those in need. My grand father use to help those in need in Pakistan, his clinic was non-profit.
