I found this 10-post series entitled “The rise and fall of the ‘salafi dawah’ in the US” on Umar Lee’s blog.

It’s interesting. Check it out.

Before all my wasabi brothers and sisters start barraging me with comments, I want to say that the 10-post series was written by a salafi and he did not bash them, just simply laid down the historical facts of it’s rise and decline in the US. So relax! Breath! haha

Here are some video responses of Shaykh Yasir and Shaykh Bilal to the Dispatches show ‘Undercover Mosque’. I just want to apologize if I have offended any Muslim with the prior post, especially the title. This show took a blow to all Muslims, especially the Muslims in the UK.

Salafi Scholars take a heavy blow in the UK

Allah knows best, but in my opinion, these scholars really need to watch what they say. It’s pretty sad and crazy that the UK media went really deep into these masjids and talking with these scholars with secret cameras. That is ridiculous! Some of the quotes were taken clearly out of context, especially what Shaykh Khalid Yasin said. The other scholars, like Abu Usamah need to be more clear or say it differently then the way they he said it. He responded to this documentary. The video is at the end of this post. Watch the documentary and see for yourself.

Abu Usamah’s Response

This is a clear sign from Allah that Muslim Scholars in Europe and North America really have to be careful of what they say or else any little misunderstanding can create a whole documentary on that and generate more hatred from the non-Muslims and Islam. I was looking at the comments on YouTube for each video and it made me really sad. Allah knows best, inshaAllah!

May Allah (swt) forgive us all and protect us from fitna. Ameen!

Soft and Kind Dawah is commanded by Allah

A brother posted this on a forum, so I thought I’d share a few ayat from the Qur’an regarding dawah. After reading them, I felt that these ayat have not been read by many Muslims who give dawah. Especially the Muslims who are very harsh in there words and nasiha.

Regarding inviting people to Islam

“You shall invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are the guided ones.”

(Qur’an, An-Nahl [The Bee] 16:125)

When teaching people about Islam, we must be wise with our words and speak with kind words. We should be smiling and deal with the listener(s) with the most positive behavior. Only Allah knows who will go to heaven. You don’t know.

Regarding refuting or replying to others harshly

“And if you do catch them out, catch them out no worse than they catch you out: But if you show patience, that is indeed the best (choice) for those who are patient. Be patient, for patience is from Allah; do not grieve over them: and be stressed out because of their actions.”

(Qur’an, An-Nahl [The Bee] 16:126-127)

Clearly, Allah is telling us to have patience with people who argue, attack and ridicule you. Patience is better then revenge, becuase patience is from Allah.

When Islam is mocked and rejected.

“And have patience with what they say, and leave them alone. And leave Me (alone to deal with) those who reject (Islam) who live in this world with ease and good things. Let Me respite them a little bit.”

(Qur’an, Al-Muzammil 73:10-11)

We must be patient and disregard the mocking and insulting words from those who reject Islam. We should leave them alone and let Allah deal with them justly. Allah is the most just.

In conclusion it is very important, in fact it is extremely important, for Muslims to try there utmost to follow these orders from Allah. If we are true slaves of Allah then we will do this. It is best to apply these ayat when we are giving dawah to non-Muslims and Muslims during our daily lives.

InshaAllah, may Allah (swt) make it easy for us to follow His orders and the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Ameen.

“And among His signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves that you may dwell in tranquility with them and He has put love and mercy between your hearts: verily in that are signs for those who reflect.” (Surah Al Rum 30:21)

-Al Qur’an
