As a user, you participate in determining all site content by discovering, selecting, sharing, and discussing the articles and videos that appeal to you”. [...]

    Salam akhi-

FYI–The link you provided is missing the “h” in “ummah.” Good idea, though. I actually had a web 2.0 scheme myself that I wanted to get your input on. Let me know if you’d be up for a parley.

“UmmahWatch” sounds kind of ominous, but hope it gets popular. “Beta”? This Web 2.0 stuff is too much. :)

Hey! I can’t modify my avatar in the profile. Anyway, great idea, may Allah make it a success.

Nice idea, but why the “Watch”? I like the concept and submitted a few stories, but I wonder if the name is going to make people think it’s like JihadWatch or IslamWatch, based on the name.

A lot of people like, it’ll be a combat to the JihadWatch or IslamWatch.

After all, Mujahideen Ryder and Maniac Muslim are both taboo names at first. hahahaha

LOL, did you ever see this: “The Young Muslims forum includes a member called ‘Mujahadeen Ryder’ who is pictured with a sucide bomber headband and face mask identical to those worn by terrorists in pre ‘martyrdom’ videos. The Ryder is possibly a reference to the brand name of the rental trucks used in the 1993 WTC bombing.” - from militantislammonitor–

The 1st thing they think of is truck lol

i looked at the posts so far on ummahwatch and so far its more like “Ummah, Watch out!” ie. way more negative stories than positive…

perhaps there is a way to encourage positive modern contributions of muslim that make the media…or make it media via ummahwatch!
while many ppl see the negative sterotypes they also ask what ARE the muslims doing that they actually are of benifit..

It’s all up to the users. Users submit articles or vidoes and other people vote. The popular items get the frontpage.

    Salam

I think this will only really take of, if you create “Digg like” buttons which people can put in their posts.
