My friends and I were driving through Harlem yesterday night looking for the Malcolm X masjid. Instead we came upon a carnival with bright lights and rides, so we decided to check it out. It was okay, not that exciting. What was extrodinary and interesting was to see people put money into these slot machines (I think that’s what they are called) in the attempt to get around $50 to $70.
Alhamdulillah! It is only by the will of God that I can do all this.
I honestly didn’t spend much time on this design and a lot of the links are still a working progress. MR Tube and MR Gallery aren’t up yet. MR Radio will be upgraded and new songs will be added inshaAllah.
MR’s Book Club
The most exciting new feature that I have added is called “MR’s Book Club”. I will not lie, I got the idea from Oprah’s Book Club (through “half my deen”). It’s an amazing idea for me personally, because I don’t really read much but I love discussion forums. So basically MR’s Book Club is an online discussion forum specifically dedicated to books. The books will be chosen by you (the members of the community) and approved by myself.
The first two books are:
The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins
InshaAllah I hope a lot of people will join in on the discussions and eventually we can evolve to be better Muslims, and ultimately intelligent human beings. After all, reading is power!
MR’s Notes
This is the other new feature which I have added to the site. I have been blessed to attend many conferences, conventions, courses, intensives, and other Islamic events. I have over 100s of pages of notes (written or typed) that are in my room collecting dust. I decided that over the next month I will add them all to my site for everyone to benefit from inshaAllah. So please bear with me while I organize this.
So there you have it! MRevolution finally begins!
During the next coming months, you will see a lot more beneficial content added to the site either through the Book Club or the Notes page.
May Allah (swt) forgive me for anything wrong I have said. May Allah (swt) purify my intentions. May Allah (swt) only bring good from this project. May Allah (swt) accept your duas. May Allah (swt) grant us all jannah. Ameen.
JazakAllah khair and thank you for the continuous support. It is you, the reader, who motivates me to do more for the ummah through this site. Thank you again!
I was driving on a local road by my house at about 50 mph. The speed limit on the road is 30 mph, but there is also a school zone which is 15 mph. Typically the average speed is around 40 mph on that road. As everyone knows people rarely follow the speed limit, and cops don’t mind as long as your not driving to fast On that day there was a cop hiding on one of the side streets within the school zone. I didn’t see him, until he had already fired the laser gun checking my speed. I knew from his reaction I was going to be pulled over.
I guess you can call this the first step towards unity from my previous post.
Updates: For those who follow hanafi and shafi’ fiqh, it’s not halal. The hadith used for daleel only applies to water. For hanafi’s see Jinnzaman’s comment below.
Alhamdulillah, I’m back! Time to do an MR convention review and a speaker/notes reflection! The post is long so make sure you click more to see it all. (I didn’t take any pictures, because well my sister had the camera the whole time).
This is my general review of the convention itself:
If you want to succeed in marketing your product, you always need amazing videos/commercials. My good friend, brother “AlBaraa” from Leechon Films makes most of the fancy proffesional looking Al-Maghrib commercials. He’s an amazing brother mashaAllah and his future will only get better inshaAllah!
