I went to hajj alhamdulillah when a lot of that same construction was going on too. Despite the towering buildings, really nothing takes away from the presence of the ka’ba.

Omar: Ibn Kathir wrote a book that was partially translated into english. The english one leaves out a lot of the minor signs.

just in response to the question of the types of companies being invited..there is already a starbucks open in the mall directly across from bab-abdel-aziz in Makkah (the main gate for the haraam). There’s starbucks in madinah also, MAC cosmetics in both Makkah and Madinah, Victoria’s Secret is soon to open in the same mall in Makkah, along with a number of other Limited Brand retailers, which is a notoriously zionist company to my knowledge, Allahu’ 3lam.
However,I think rather than focusing on the commercialization going on around the haramayn, those who visit there or plan to visit/live there insha’Allah have so much more they can focus on about these places insha’Allah, like the tremendous effort put forth by the govnt of KSA and the staffs of these masjid to maintain the haramayn in such a organized way, during clean, during peak seasons, in terms of dealing with multi-lingual crowds etc. Masha’Allah they are always on their toes in terms of expansion to more easily accomodate the massive crowds, masha’Allah, thats good for us, bc the crowd is always getting more and more all the time too.

That is a good point muslim brother. I often hear people talking about the signs of the DOJ as if they are bad, when it is simply a sign that the Hour is nearing ever so more.

BTW, those signs you quoted are quite interesting. Do you know where you read about them. I’ve been interested in reading about the Prophet’s (saw) prophecies such as the signs of the DOJ.

I wonder though, allah is allowing all this to happen, I don’t see a way you can stop the construction, it’s inevitable, but no one is denying the constrction either, or atleast their voices arn’t being heard. Its scary though when you think about the holy lands, who I mean goverment forces is it controlled by.

they are indeed shopping malls , supposed to be one of the largest in the world! now why would any one going to hajj or umrah worry about designer stores or hanging out mall spots? these are the very things we are trying to run away from and seeking forgivness!! and now they lay at the holy mosques door step!
