      Subhana Allah!

Now that’s what you call iSLAM!

Putting a new meaning on ‘wife-beaters’ huh? :)

You know what we should do…we should make a remix of that video, like all the remixes of the Star Wars kid. Replace the robber with some Islamophobe.

    2. Maverick October 25th, 2007 at 12:34 pm

      YEA!!!

She even ran after him into the parking lot, still swingin the axe!!

THATS MA GIRL!!! [er, muslim sister, I mean … haha]

    3. sunnilink October 25th, 2007 at 1:17 pm

I wouldn’t do that if I was in that situation … especially if someone’s pointing a gun. I’d happily give the guy all the cash.

Risking death for a couple hundred dollars? Not worth it.

    4. jinnzaman October 25th, 2007 at 1:45 pm

      Assalamu alaikum

      Kabool hai.

      crazy!!

    6. Obaida Abdul-rahim October 25th, 2007 at 2:52 pm

Oh Allah. If I ever decide to get married, please grant me a wife as totally freaking GANGSTER as this. I swear by Your Name that I will treat her like all axe-toting princesses should be treated (respect, with maybe a touch of fear). Also, Ya Allah, I will buy her only the finest in criminal-combating weaponry. If she chooses to upgrade to a chainsaw, and that is her right as a Muslim woman, I will not only buy it for her, but I will make sure it is a diamond-tipped chainsaw so that she may dismember the Transgressors with the utmost precision (and also because diamond-tipped chainsaws are a girl’s best friend, and You Know Best).

      Ameen.
      Ameen.
      Ameen.

    7. AnonyMouse October 25th, 2007 at 3:32 pm

      Ahahahahahaha!
Al-Hamdulillaah the sis managed to scare the lights out of the robber and wasn’t harmed in the encounter either.

“Risking death for a couple hundred dollars? Not worth it.”
The one who dies defending his/her property is the one who dies as a shaheed(ah) – definitely worth it in my opinion!

      LOL @ bro Obaida… ameen!

    8. Abdullah October 25th, 2007 at 3:33 pm

      People still make axes????

    9. Noonyabiz October 25th, 2007 at 3:48 pm

      As salaamu alaikum

      1st… Alhamdulillaah she wasn’t harmed.

2nd… Would the caption read ‘white man’ is the robber was white? ‘arab man’ if the robber was arab? ‘pakistani man’ if the robber was Pakistani? For some reason I doubt it and Allah knows best. Please change it to ‘man with gun’ insha’Allah… otherwise I will expect to see each person mentioned in videos posted to be identified by their race.

    10. sunnilink October 25th, 2007 at 4:31 pm

Just saw the interview. Even the sister realizes her mistake in the end. She said “I think I’ll give money next time”.

As I said — not worth it.

    11. ali October 25th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

in the interview she said she knew the gun was fake .. how did she know that ??? sorry, knowledge of guns is taught to us here canadian schools hehe … enlighten me my american brothers! :)

“The one who dies defending his/her property is the one who dies as a shaheed(ah) – definitely worth it in my opinion!”

This is the kind of middle age islamic thought that has ruined Islam. You dumb terrorist ****; If she dies, what good has she achieved? A shaheed? Protecting a lame grocery store and a few dollars? No wonder you guys are willing to blow yourselves up and kill innocent people.

    15. mulimah October 25th, 2007 at 5:33 pm

you know dont we, as Muslims, absolutely hate when the media says (for example) ‘MUSLIM Man Kills 3 in a car accident’, or whatver

the point being it isn’t needed to say “Black” man vs. the muslim sister…. robber would have been enough.

that being said props to this sister, ahahaa.

    16. Your Daddy October 25th, 2007 at 5:45 pm

To the idiot known as “typical islamic terrorist”

You asked: “What good has she achieved?” – Uhm, she’s achieved that which we all hope to achieve, and there’s nothing higher than that – God’s mercy and forgiveness.

Oh an btw, nice to see the pot calling the kettle black – Muslim terrorists may have killed innocents, but that’s nothing compared to the millions of innocents you’ve killed.

      So please STFU, idiot.

    17. Shama October 25th, 2007 at 7:16 pm

      Lol, man I love her.
Robbers or any criminal for that matter are cowards – they don’t expect that their victim will respond especially when they are threatening with a weapon. They expect you to submit to their demands and to respond with such confidence is remarkable. She didnt just react dumb, she challenged him back with something she could hurt him with and cause damage. Its true that each situation is different and you need to weigh how you should respond to them. Yet I applaud the sister for her confidence and bravery

      Go hijabi!

    18. UmmZaid October 25th, 2007 at 8:54 pm

      Salaams:

Got to agree with the people who pointed out that there is no need to mention the robber’s race ( can’t tell from the video anyway, but I guess you guys are seeing news reports that I don’t have here).

Also, judging from the # of bros here and elsewhere who… like this… am I to conclude that what a brother really wants is a sister who isn’t afraid to use deadly force? Ya’ani, sisters should forget about the sweet and gentle thing?

    19. Editor October 25th, 2007 at 9:55 pm

Maybe the bro had meant to put “black-hooded man” (which was what the robber was wearing).

But anyway, what’s interesting as pointed out in the comment section of the Newsday.com article was that at the end, they mentioned the police request for help but failed to say his race. When in that case, it would be perfectly okay to describe it, necessary even.

      Bad case of PC-ness there?

    20. Asmaa October 25th, 2007 at 10:46 pm

      That’s just brilliant.

    21. Umm Layth October 25th, 2007 at 10:48 pm

What has she achieved? She achieved defending herself, whether it means dying in the attempt. There are many people out there that do the same, Muslim and non-Muslim people. There are those who give in, hand the cash, the goods, and they die. There are those that try to defend themselves which is an obligation upon them to begin with.

I’m proud of this sister. Now we just need to make du’aa’ that Allah continues to protect her, strengthen her and all of us. Ameen

      What a sister! Tabarak Allah!

My fault everyone. Didn’t need to mention the robbers race. I just got excited and posted without thinking. May Allah (swt) forgive me.

    26. And What if October 26th, 2007 at 1:46 am

      AND WHAT IF
The gun had been real and in confusion this man shot and killed her after she did that whereas he would of just taken the money and left without incident??? (obv. he is a criminal) Then what? Would you all still be praising her? Incredibly brave or incredibly stupid? This argument goes both ways. Just thought I’d point that out before you guys put her on a high horse for acting so brave. Then what would you have? A grieving father and mother who lost their daughter? Think about that before you praise her. NOT a single law enforcement officer/agency or anyone with any intelligence recommends what she did here. What’s more valuable: a few dollars or your life? You never know with these low life common criminals. If he can pull a gun on you during a robbery its probably likely that he has no problem shooting you. She is just lucky it wasn’t a real gun or that man probably would have shot her and left her to die. So again, instead of praising her blindly maybe we should argue the other point too.

    27. BeeSpree Team October 26th, 2007 at 3:11 am

Bahaha, that’s pretty classic. Fortunately she wasn’t hurt.

And what if, often people don’t actually shoot, or the gun is fake etc, but valid points.

    28. Umm Layth October 26th, 2007 at 8:35 am

There are no if’s. If this, if that – can you change it? What happened has happened. And Alhamdulillah it happened in this manner.

      Agreed.

While people sitting behind their screens are cheering this women, I find it extremly odd that this incident is being somehow connected to hijabs and Muslim women. The smarter thing to do would to give the guy the cash and forget about it. If she did it for a worthy cause than I’d be applauding her as well.

she said she worked hard for the money and it wudnt make sense to hand it over like that.

imagine how much hardship her family is enduring to keep a family business running. just cus some idiot wants the money doesn’t mean he’ll get it. If everyone fought off robbers like this, maybe there wudnt be that many robberies.

      mad props to her.
lol she was like u want my money?!!! ILL SHOW U, CHOP CHOP CHOP

Listen. She knew the gun was fake. Maybe the idiot robber used a really fake gun and thought he could get away with it since the sister was not from America and couldn’t really speak English well. Look’s like he was wrong.

‘Brother’ linked to many other videos including a guy using a hammer to fight off a robber, an old lady fighting off two robbers, etc. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing store owners and workers fighting off robbers.

You just have a problem with this one woman, becuase she’s a Muslim. How bias you are!

    40. Umm Layth October 28th, 2007 at 11:11 am

Those who want to focus on the ‘ifs’ of not giving the money should also focus on the ‘ifs’ of her handing the money. She could have been shot either way. She was braver than many men out there. That means a lot!

    41. umm obayda October 28th, 2007 at 11:47 pm

i think what’t crazy about the whole thing was her instict…her reflex. Yeh the money this money that, but the fact that at that moment she could react like that shows something incredible. And that is praiseworthy, we could easily hand money over to people with guns, but then what kind of system are we supporting…one where we are ruled by fear…what kind of a life is that. All I’m saying is people like that are giving a stong message to losers out there that you can’t just walk into my buisness and do whatever you want.

    42. Yusuf Smith October 29th, 2007 at 9:29 am

      As-Salaamu ‘alaikum,

Robbers or any criminal for that matter are cowards – they don’t expect that their victim will respond especially when they are threatening with a weapon.

Usually, but some robbers are out to get money for their next fix and their brains have been addled by coke or weed. These drugs ruin your brain and there is quite a lot of mental illness caused by long-term weed use. Just last week there was a controversy over here about a 97-year-old man being injured on a south London tram by a middle-aged paranoid schizophrenic and, since I used to ride that same tram line to work, I wondered if the man responsible was the same sullen-faced man who demanded that I move my bag off the seat so he could sit next to me even though the tram car was empty. Others I would have told to shove off even if they had asked me; these guys you don’t mess with as you don’t know what they’ll do.

    43. Shama October 29th, 2007 at 11:00 pm

^^^ makes sense. As I said every situation is different and I think the sister in the video recognizes that when she says she will probably hand over the money next time.
Its possible she was more confident then the robber and both the robber and she recognize that. Such that even “IF” the gun was real he didnt shoot at her.

    44. istafah October 31st, 2007 at 11:39 pm

I just came here to show my 9 yr old daughter Asmaah an example of courage.. that sister May Allah forgive her sins and continue to give her strength… ameen.. .She was right.. to many times people are oppressed by others and where ever there is an oppressor or aggressor they should be stopped.
Thats gansta…. Gansta for Allah.. ameen….

    45. Man November 2nd, 2007 at 3:56 pm

It’s not that we’re praising her but we are grateful to Allah that she was not harmed and that she stood her ground. The more cowardice we victims of crime show ourselves to be the more arrogant and ruthless our attackers become. There’s no guaranteeing that this man wouldn’t have shot her anyway even if she had been submissive. The fact that she scared off her attacker might make him think twice before harming another person (if he’s smart.) So yes, even if she were to die she would’ve been a marytr because she would’ve at least put some fear in the criminal’s mind and deter further crime. why do you think we have the 2nd amendment? Thieves should have some fear too and its ppl like her that keep them in check while the rest of us give them the green light to do anything they want (hence more and more crime in our society.) I’m proud of her. I myself would’ve been a coward.

    46. Not imp November 3rd, 2007 at 6:59 pm

Essit agda3 min meet ragil (The woman is braver than a 100 men)

to be honest, if i was in that situation i would not have reacted that way. some people will say it was stupid, but the munafiqeen used to tell the muslims it was stupid for them to risk their lives in battle and they would make any and every excuse to stay at home as far away from the battlefield as possible. as far as i know the hadeeth is sound..so if she was killed she would have died a shaheed.

another thing is we should know by now that the media has a specific agenda. it is known that they target the muslims and distort facts to destroy our image. we can never win with these type of people. if we follow the true teachings of islam, we would be considered extremists and if we don’t we’re hypocrites. in any case if we hear any news we should verify it through trustworthy sources and if there are none, then allahu alim and we always give our brothers and sisters the benefit of the doubt. no matter how bad it might seem.
