‘Optimism’ comes from leaders who give a damn about local issues and the constitutional rights of the people. The so-called leaders of this country have tainted its very fabric by violating the constitution, allowing torture, killing, stealing, decieving. Our “leaders” are banking of the wars & no-bid contracts, the mass media is controlled, getting rid of habeas corpus, glorifying war to make publicly acceptable, corporate power protected, labor power surpressed, etc. Bush continually makes new “security” directives that give him dictatorial power. Our “leaders” have the power, but they have done the exact opposite and exacerbated the issues. Most Americans know this and are unfortuanately indifferent.

Why do you always play the devil’s advocate? Why can’t you be optimistic? It is unfortunate that they had to be homeless, but compared to other countries…America’s homeless are far fewer in number.

If you want to see changes then become politically active, vote, go to local elections, persuade your representatives to pass bills that benefit war veterens. Join an organization that benefits war veterens. Rally, protest. Join SB AID. Don’t just blog it.
