Thanks to MuslimMatters.org for posting!

For those unfamiliar with Moazzam Begg, he unjustly served time at Gitmo and wrote a book about his experiences called Enemy Combatant (you can read more about it here).Transcript of the interview from CagePrisoners over the ‘fold’ (Imam Anwar’s words are bolded): Continue reading “Interview with Imam Anwar al-Awlaki after his Release”

“The time I spent in detention was a great blessing from Allah. They were moments of contemplation and study which I was greatly in need of. Alhamdulillah, Allah has blessed me during that time of solitude with tranquility and peace to the extent that at most of the time I was preferring detention over freedom. Now that I am free I ask Allah to enable me to thank Him for his blessings.

“I am greatly moved to know that many of my brothers and sisters have been asking about my situation and praying for my release. I thank them all. May Allah reward all of you with Paradise.”

Jewish Immigration to Israel at 20-year low

The Israeli government says Jewish immigration to Israel has fallen to its lowest level in 20 years, with fewer than 20,000 Jews arriving in 2007.

Looks like Israel isn’t such a lovely place for Jews after all. America seems better. May Allah (Swt) bring justice to the innocent victims of the terrorist forces in the holy land. Ameen!

…should be re-named Christma$.

…is the best day to get to fajr at the masjid. No traffic!

This post has been inspired by the wonderful Holiday commercials on the TV, radio, Internet and every shopping mall I have been to in the past 2 months.

A case of selective hearing – A response to Ayaan Hirsi Ali by Tariq Ramadan

A case of selective hearing

By Tariq Ramadan
Sunday, December 16, 2007

OXFORD, England:

In her opinion page article on Dec. 8, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the former Dutch legislator and author of “Infidel,” accused the so-called “moderate” Muslims of remaining silent instead of condemning acts done in he name of Islam by individuals or governments. Surprisingly, I was mentioned among the “moderate” Muslim scholars who did not condemn what happened in Saudi Arabia (the lashing sentence of a female rape victim) or Sudan (the indictment of a grade school teacher for allowing her students to name their teddy bear after the Prophet). All the while, I have been paying the price of my regular criticisms of such kinds of actions these past few years by being banned from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Tunisia and . . . (for reasons still not explained to me) the United States.
