If someone is ganda or gandi in urdu/hindi, they are dirty. But we know that dirty doesn't mean someone who has dirt all over them, but just someone who's not clean for whatever reason. Dirt=mitti which is pretty unrelated to gandagee. If someone's room is messy, one could say, "Kya gandhagee machaivihai?" or, "What kind of mess/nastiness is this?" I think it makes more sense in urdu than it does in english... Gandaghee is not so much “dirt” as it is dirtiness or nastiness.
