plus, all the people saying that its great that he’s black? if you vote just because the color of someones skin, it feels like we’re moving back in time to before the civil rights movement.

that being said, i think every option for the presidential election is bad.
there is no lesser evil, and may allah help the muslims everywhere around the world from anyone that becomes the president in this country.

We all have to realize that Muslims are not liked. You simply cannot have a “potential” US president (especially with a name like Barak Hussein Obama) showing overly outward love for Muslims. This is plain stupidity.

We as Muslims are also missing part of the big picture. A BLACK MAN IS A POTENTIAL US PRESIDENT. THIS IS HUGE!

We also have to realize that no one is going to save Palestine except for Muslims. We know that Palestine will be liberated 3 times in history (2 already passed with the Caliph Umar and Salahudeen, the next & final one will be with the Mehdi & Prophet Isa). In the meanwhile, most Palestinians living in the West do not practice Islam (I know A LOT OF THEM). Even in Palestine, a Shaykh visited Palestine many years ago, and “rarely” found a hafidh of the Quran! Does this mean they deserve punishment? No, but only until we have some “moral” compass will we gain success.

We also know that Obama spent his youth in Muslim countries, he has two Muslim fathers, do you not think deep down in his heart he has a sensitivity there? In the time of the Prophet, the Abysinnian King, Najashi, hid his iman b/c he was in power. Some Ulama took from this that if someone in power converts to Islam, he can hide it if the there is more harm than good, and Allah knows best. We can always hope, that this “could” be a reality for the most powerful person in the world, the potential US president, Barak Obama, Insha Allah.

That’s what that means. We’re not going back and forth. I agree with you. Obama will most likely still end up having Muslim blood. But from the big picture, he’s the “lesser of the evils”.

Plus, he’s black! That’s just awesome if he becomes President.

I don’t want to go back and forth with you, bro, the arguments are old and tired. But I hope I never get used to see Muslims supporting people who they admit will kill our brothers and sisters and who don’t care or have the slightest bit of respect for us.

Alhamdulillah this is another good step he is taking. Although it’s kind of bad for any Muslim lobbying groups, but I doubt they had any influence at all.

My point is clear: Obama > Clinton > McCain. America will continue to kill around the world no matter who becomes President. This is just how this country is. The majority of Americans do not like Muslim countries and their leaders. They don’t like Iran, Palestine, Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.

Allah even said this in the Qur’an that they will hate us no matter what.

All I am saying is that Barack Obama wants to end the genocide (which is sadly done by Muslims) in Darfur. That’s positive to me. He wants to leave Iraq. That’s positive to me.

He’s more positive than the other candidates.

The problem is that you claimed in you post that Obama was opposed by Zionists on the same day that the most poweful pro-Zionist lobby was giving him rousing ovations. You say we know McCain’s position on Afghanistan, but do you know Obama’s? It is no different than McCain’s. In fact, his complaint about Iraq is that we should have concentrated more on killing Muslims in Afghanistan instead of being distracted by Iraq.

Indeed we can pray for Allaah to guide Obama to the truth, but a study of his history will indicate that as he has ascended higher in politics he’s gotten further from the truth.

At a time when are brothers and sisters are suffering from an illegal siege of Gaza and Desmond Tutu was speaking out against it….Barack Obama was telling AIPAC that he would stand by Israel no matter what it did to the Palestinians. What kind of morality is that?

I am in no way saying that McCain or Clinton are better (they are not) but we cannot ignore such issues when we are discussing Obama or minimize them.
