Ayyub (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days from Shawwal it is as if they fasted the entire year.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah; Ahmad transmitted it from Jabir, Muntaqa]
Thawban (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan, and then six days after Eid, it is [like fasting] an entire year. Whoever does a good deed shall have ten times its reward.” [Ibn Majah, Muntaqa]
Do that 30. Drop 6 more. Got 365.

My question is…do we have to fast 6 days right after eid…or can we spread the fasts out in the month following eid? I have heard the second opinion but I have not read any proof for it…Let me know…JazakaAllah Khair.
You can fast any 6 days throughout the month of Shawwal
jazakallahu khair MR, and Nihal Khan for clarifying
Don’t forget to fast every Monday and Thursday, and the 13th, 14th, 15th of the Islamic Month.
As Salamu Alaykum,
I understand that fasting on Monday and thursday’s are a sunnah. However, would anyone know of any narration behind these acts?
Insh Allah look forward to your response,
Sincerely,
jawad
This hadith is reported in Sunan Abi Dawud,
“Narrated Hafsah, Ummul Mu’minin: The apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) used to fast three days every month: Monday, thursday and Monday in the next week.” (Book #13, Hadith #2445)
I hope that helps
