Actually, you are getting mixed up with the Mughal and Mongol empires. The Mongols were ruthless, brutal, merciless, cruel killers. They converted to Islam and became the Mughals. The Mughal Empire thrived in India for hundreds of years, until the British came in the 1858 and forced Bahadur Shah II, the emperor at that time, to give up all the land.
