“Rajab is Allah’s month, Sha’ban my month, and Ramadan the month of my Ummah ” is a fake hadith. Imam As-Syuti in his book Al-Jami’ Al-Kabir this hadith is reported by Abu Al-Fat-h ibn Abu al-Fawaris in his book Amali, as being a mursal hadith ( A hadith that has no connection whatsoever as to which sahabah recorded it from the Prophet)

does anyone know the if the ahadith referenced in the above comments are sahih? if so, who is the narrator, and if there is an online reference/link to the source used, could you provide it please.

Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “Rajab is a great month of Allah (swt), unmatched by any other month in the respect and significance (accorded to it); war during this month is prohibited; Verily, Rajab is Allah’s month, Sha’ban my month, and Ramadan the month of my Ummah; whosoever fasts a day in the month of Rajab will be granted the great reward of Ridwan (an angel in heaven); the wrath of Allah shall be distanced and the door of the Hell shall be closed.”

Allahumma Baariklana Fee Rajaba Wa Sha’baana wa Ballignaa Ramadan. (Oh Allah! Give us blessings in Rajab and Sha’baan and let us live till Ramadan).

The Prophet (SAW) used to say this du’aa much in the months of Rajab and Sha’baan. It’s also reported that out of the year He (SAW) used to fast most in these two months voluntarily to prepare for Ramadan.
