Eminem praises Allah in “Bagpipes from Baghdad”?

It seems to be a common with mainstream pop rappers referencing Islam, Allah and using Arabic in their songs. There is Lil Wayne and then of course you have that big fiasco with Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Akon, P Diddy and whole bunch of others with the several Arab Money songs and remixes. Now Eminem appears to be feelin’ it:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Clearly sounds like “hamdulillah” with some auto-tunes mixing.

Eminem – If you do read this, I invite you to learn more about the meaning of what you are saying and what Islam is all about. You can contact me and I can connect you with some scholars God willing. I’m not sure how true this is, but one of your fellow group members of D12, Bizarre, may be a Muslim. The only evidence of this is one of your songs, Bizarre said “I’m a alcoholic…pass the hot dogs” and then you said in the background, “Bizarre, aren’t you Islamic?”. So if this is true, then also I invite Bizarre to this offer. Thanks.

May God guide him and all of us! Ameen.

Firstly, I for one thought the Arab Money song was offensive and the lives these people are leading are NOT islamic at all, for us to be falling into the trap of this celebrity culture is a very dangerous and fine-line.

Let us remember that ALL are equal in the sight of Allah except by deeds. However, we should take action and give people daw’ah irrespective of who they are and what they do. Giving daw’ah to Eminem is just as important as giving daw’ah to your postman. 😀

Reminder of the benefits of daw’ah:

“Allah, His angels and the inhabitants of heavens and earth; nay, even the ant in its hole and the whales in the sea, pray for the one who teaches people what is good”. (Al-Tirmidh – Saheeh) Subhan’Allah!

“Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining al-ma`roof [i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do] and forbidding al-Munkar [polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden]. And it is they who are successful.” (3:104)

“Whoever guides [another] to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it.” [Saheeh Muslim]

Eminem has had good and bad lyrics, though if he became Muslim (and notice I said ‘became’ rather than ‘was’) it’d be good for him because with many of his issues through his life, he’s basically asking for a solution, and what better path to get on than siraatul mustaqeem?

@al-suyuufi – Favorite rappers? Speak on behalf of yourself akhi. I am not looking for excuses. I am just interested in how these Islamic phrases find there ways into the most strange places.

And to all those that deny the power of dawah to rappers, look at rappers Loon or Napoloen or even further Imam Suhaib Webb. They have become popular figures in the Muslim community even after their conversion.

I haven’t heard the whole song so lyrically I can’t say if the phrase fits the song but from theshort snippet it appears no diffeent than when Everlast sung La Ilaha ill Allah on the end of Santana’s “Put Your Lights On”.

btw, i find it distrubing there are ads for EL AL airlines on your blog. WTF?lol

I just want to strongly discourage everyone from listening to any of Eminem’s works as his music and lyrics are extremely enticing and catchy. I’ve heard countless tracks and I ended up listening to more and more. He has a few good tracks and a LOT of filthy tracks so stay well away please. May Allah bless me with following this advice first and foremost, ameen!

@Hamza21 – Muslims use El Al bro :-D. Also Everlast is a known Muslim.

why do u care if he praises allah and mentions islam or something. wats the point

That is it sounds like hamdulillah and eminem not to blame if his partner is a Muslim alcoholic who inserted the word in the lyric!

This is the best shit ever. It is like reading the Sunday comics but without the cartoon photos to go with it. I love how you read into his every word, instead of realizing, it is just rhyming at its best. You must not know his music, or his videos, as he has done it before, and dressed like a villain with head rag and all. You should research before you write an article – um I mean comic.

      Salam alaikum,
I don’t think that word is “hamdullilah” because he already used it in some other song and i don’t think it means anything.
It’s like queen when he used “Bismillah” in bohemian Rhapsody. They just use words for them. But this in eminem’s song, i don’t know it doesn’t look like one to me.

    12. Anonbro August 20th, 2009 at 6:15 pm

Bro, the lyrics mean nothing. Even American soldiers use these phrases, you think they mean anything? Nope. Stop filling your blog with this nonsense, doesn’t look good.

      @ khaoula
if i could just nerd out for a moment, queen’s lead singer freddie mercurie’s real name is Farooq Bulsara and i believe he was raised zoroaster. i’m not sure. in any event the point i’m attempting to make is that he knew what it meant when he put it in the song. not arguing, just saying.

      Ramadan Mubarak everyone!

    16. Azeem August 28th, 2009 at 6:00 am

Actually I think he is saying: “Hghum-day-li-laaa-aaa-aaa-aaa-aa-aah-aah”

    17. arabia September 30th, 2009 at 9:30 am

i think he’s saying al hamdulilah, that’s how it sounds to me, i am arab and i tell u them lot tryina link with our religion is an insult. you can’t use the name of allah like this! they r belittleling islam as they did for their own religion aka christianity or what’s left ot it, i’d rather name it paganism; anyways.
they sing dirty tracks, and try to relate to our religion like is said, NOT THE ARAB CULTURE, the arab money song was a one off, and i find that disgusting it would be better for them to stop seriously, becoz this is gng too far, it’s just like these designers ages ago who tried to get some verses of the quran on their creations. i am surprised none related this event to what’s happening now with these trashes who r far from representing our religion.
i was reading on another thread, a jewish boy clearly stating how all these are offensive and u guys r just liking it?! u just like them using bismillah before depicting a zina story?! u like them using the word al hamdulilah after sayin the F word?!!!
good peeps we’ve got in here, ya’ll r seriously blind, mature up a bit.

Islam solves Problems, and Eminem had had lots of it. maybe he is still in trouble. special thing about islam is that Allah forgives you sins that you did in the past.

Islam brings eternal Happiness 🙂 and everyone wants it.

    20. Salim Shahdi March 9th, 2010 at 6:41 pm

I’m not sure if this Is a joke, but Eminem is NOT Muslim and he is only dissimg autotune with what you thought was ‘Hamadullah’. Plus eminem won’t read this as he doesn’t use computers and doesn’t seem the religious type.

However, bizarre is a Muslim. In ‘Fight Music’ he raps about reading the Holy Koran while eating a hot dog (also while on the john and wearing a yellow thong, as commanded by Satan).
