   It’s funny how this huge multinational naval fleet only goes after pirates while failing to do anything to stop the poaching fishing vessels or ships carrying industrial waste which are ravaging the East African coast. There’s so much attention towards combating the pirates and seemingly none for the economic and political development of Somalia and the betterment of the lives of its people. The root causes all of this is obvious (and often stated directly by the pirates themselves)…which makes it just that much more of a shame that world leaders continue to choose the “macho” military option rather than a thoughtful, comprehensive plan to address the tragedy in Somalia.
