The End – Mujahideen Ryder’s Blog (2000 to 2009) [UPDATED]

It’s been a long time with lots of fun, educational, spiritual, controversial and outrageous posts over an entire decade. The blog was bound to come to an end as do everything.

I ask Allah to forgive me for anything wrong I have said. I ask anyone who may have been hurt by my blog to forgive me. Anything good that I have written is from Allah. Anything bad is from myself and the whispers of the shaytan.

May Allah take away any suffering from any Muslim. May Allah remove the injustice around the world. May Allah bring peace to war infested lands. May Allah forgive all the wrong doers. May Allah guide all the misguided and continue to guide the guided.

Oh Allah! Forgive the Muslim men and women. Forgive the believing men and women. Those who are alive and those who died. You are indeed the One who listens and accepts all supplications.

Servants of Allah! Indeed Allah orders us to be just and to excel in what we do. Be generous and to take care of our kin and relatives. Never do what is forbidden of all sins and not to transgress. He almighty advises you so you can remember.

Verily, Salah prevents evil deeds and misconduct.

With that said, my last and final post is done.

Asalamualykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
May the peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you

UPDATE (1/2/10): Some of you suggested a I list resources that I usually go to.  Here are my sources for news articles:

  1. Reddit
I’m on reddit on a daily basis.  It’s basically a community that votes different submissions from around the web.  I use this to get the latest news around the world and in America.  The politics and world news subreddits are very good.
  2. Twitter
I find some of the most craziest links on here.  You have to really search and follow the right people. @IslamBlog and @muslimvoices are pretty good of aggregating a lot of links around the web regarding Islam and Muslims.

List for Islamic knowledge:

  1. Halal Tube
The number one reason I made that site was for myself to organize lectures.  I basically listen to all my stuff from there.  If I find something, I add it.  I know there is a submit form for anyone to add, but I’ve been lazy with that.  Hopefully now that MR has come to an end I will be able to work on Halal Tube more often.
  2. IslamQA.com
I use it to find hadith related to questions I have, not necessarily to find a fatwa.
  3. SearchTruth
Easy way to find things from the Quran and Hadith.
  4. Read!
    I read books.

  1. Ameen Ameen.
May Allah protect the innocent and the mujahideen everywhere.

    Jazakullah khairan for everything MR.

  2. Very sad to hear that. I was an avid reader of your blog, as well as many others.

    So what is happening next?

  3. Oh, I forgot to say, Shukran for all your efforts!! May Allah SWT reward you in this life and the next! Amin.

  4. Salam bro

One less site to fight against the haters. 🙁

It’s true that all good things must come to an end… but I still can’t help but ask: why are you closing the blog? Even if you don’t have time to post something everyday, considering the google ranking of your site, it seems a shame to close it completely.

It’s not too late to change your mind… but if you insist, I hope you’ll at least make the archives available.

    Wa’salam

    Mehzabeen

  5. P.S., again, considering the impact your site has, masha’Allah, mb you should pass the torch onto someone else, or even a group of people whom you trust? Please don’t throw away such valuable internet real estate. 🙂

    Btw, that wasn’t a hint, hehe. 😉

  6. Yeah definetely what iMuslim is saying. Don’t close this blog. You’ve developed an established and recognized site. All that years of effort shouldn’t go to waste.

If you can no longer run it, pass the responsibility to another Muslim Brother(s) who has proven capabilities in blogging and website running.

  7. First I would like to thank you MR for entertaining us AND letting us benefit from his daily posts. Secondly, I think MR is pretty busy considering him not posting on a daily basis anymore. I don’t want to start something but, there was so much radicalism creeping onto this site. I wouldn’t be surprised if the FBI was monitoring this site. From calling Muslims to jihad to racism against Jews. It was scary and I think MR would enjoy the freedom without worrying about something he doesn’t condone. Nevertheless it’s the internet and it’s free speech so what the heck? Jizakallah again MR. Instead of going on all those fitnah websites on the internet I would always check up on this site. I forgive you for anything that you might have posted to which it might have angered me. I hope everybody else also does the same all in good will. Wa’Asalam.

  8. Wow! But I can understand the need to move on with projects and efforts in life.

May Allah reward you for everything. I’m glad I met you in real life at ISNA 2008 (funny story now that I think of it, two “internets” identities meeting randomly), and hope that you find blessings from Allah with whatever you’re involved with here on out.

    Your brother,
    Saqib

  9. ASAK bro MR,

I am deeply saddened by this, and can’t help thinking- why must it be MR blog?

Seriously, although I don’t frequent here, when do I come here, I really do learn things, and I enjoy my visits- God, how come MR finds these stuff.

It’s a shock to see you leave, and I hope it’s not permanent.

As some have already pointed out, it takes some time and work to build up a history that gives a blog it’s following and legitimacy. It’s a lot of asset for the ummah that we can potentially lose here.

At the least, please keep the archives available. If not, please share the xml file with us, we’ll see what we can do with it.

Best of all, please do come back. Sometime.

Have a good break. May Allah bless your this life and the next, forgive your sins, and guide you on the straight path.

    Ameen.

  10. NOOOOOOOO!!!! :/

I really liked this blog, I visited all the time. Well I guess all good things come to an end…..

JazaakAllahu khairan for all the beneficial posts!!!

  11. I think he gave baya’ to Shaykh Nuh Keller and that’s why he’s closing this blog. We know how it works. Shaykh don’t like his murids bloggin’ and all that.

  12. i bin on this syyt for tym never post but still it gives alot of useful info, i trusted this more then bbc and sky news put tgether

    🙁

  13. Thank you for all the work you have put into the blog. As a non-Muslim, I have greatly enjoyed visiting your blog and reading things concerning Islam from a more mainstream and tolerant source.

As a fellow blogger, I realize that it’s a huge commitment to blog, and I congratulate you on making 10 years of it.

Could you post links to other blogs that you recommend?

  14. Assalamu alaikum,

I’ll really miss your blog and have benefited greatly from your posts and perspective. May Allah(swt) bless you and help you with whatever you may do next, Insha’Allah.

  15. Mr, listen to me (i am sure others want to tell you the something)
    DO NOT DO THIS
    Do u hear?
If you have an issue or something, maybe we can help. I am sure that u didnt think it through, do u know what u are doing if u stop blogging here? Not just to yourself, but to others. You are a role model for some. Its like a chain reaction. Dont mess it up bro. At least for your readers. May Allah Guide you and us all on to the right path Insh Allah.
Btw, u must reply to at least some of the comments(please), and tell us what u are planning.
I especially hope it wasn’t because of the comments of some people who are just trying to put u down, the ones about the blog or advertisements.
    O_o
(hey fellow readers, help me out here)

  16. Wow this is catastrophic for muslim blogosphere. At a time when all within all topics on the blogosphere are adapting and changing I suppose some will use this time for an exit. I can’t really hate on that. It’s tough running a blog,VERY time consuming. However I agree with others you should definitely look into allowing others to take this blog and continue on.

Though I mostly post with mixtape/Hip Hop blogosphere (but will be branching out into other subjects soon) I will be happy to contribute a post or two and I’m sure others would be as well.

All you need is at least three bloggers who will post something at least once a week and this blog can continue on. Something to think about you know?

  17. salaam MR
I don’t know you personally, but I have been reading your blog for years now, I was a daily visitor. I didn’t post much, just several times. I really found your blog beneficial, and you were good at what you did. Your efforts and legacy in this website and halaltube will carry with you wherever you go.

No other blog compares to yours. You’ve drawn readers from all around the world with one goal, to spread the truth and educate others about Islaam. Mashallah you were successful every minute through it.

All good in the world always has an end, and this blog is no exception. We understand that you no longer have the free time like you did when you were younger, and that you have a family and other responsibilities to take care of.

It’s going to be upsetting for me to take this blog off my bookmarks, because every post I read I gathered new insight and discovered something new. I only wish that you keep this website online, along with your other websites (halaltube) so that newcomers will discover beneficial lectures and blog posts as well.

You’re a good man, MR, never change.
With all that said, I wish you the best of health and imaan, for you and your family, and children and their offspring.
    Jazakallahu khair for your efforts
    Ahmad.

  18. Walakaykum Assalam.
So sad to see you go. I echo everyone’s sentiments. Most of all, I’m gonna miss the Ramadan Qur’an competition. It was a huge motivation for me. May Allah reward you for all you’ve done and continue to bless you. Ameen.

  19. Amir,
    Calling it a day…
May Allah continue to bless you and your ventures…
Gonna miss entries like this rapper took shahada in his latest song:)
    Salamz
p.s. going to be emailing you about a project, inshallah…

  20. Like many of the posters above I have been following this blog for a loooong time but haven’t really posted much (if ever). This is sad news but inshallah your work over the past 10 years will not be overlooked by Allah swt. I wish you all the best for the future and hope that maybe at some point you can come back and blog a bit more.

Jazakallah khair for your efforts. Amin

  21. JAK for your blog bro, it was a great site and it’s true all good things must come to an end. May Allah bless all your endeavors.

  22. I have been following your blog for years and visit often but never post anything. I want to say JAK it was a great website and enjoyable to follow and I will miss it. Thanks for letting us know that you will stop the site instead of posting less and then eventually not posting at all or not telling us at all.

  23. Message from MR:

JazakAllah khair! Thank you for all the kind words. I’ll be real though, my blog isn’t all that great. There are much better less known blogs that are extremely beneficial. Running this blog is harder than usual. For news I usually read reddit and specifically the world news and politics subreddits to get the latest. It’s very good. Maybe I’ll create some type of forum-blog’ish type of site so everyone can post. Maybe the ShoutReel can do this.

  24. Ameen.

Dang homie. Add a guest blogger or something, and turn it down a notch for yourself.

Anyway, it’s been a great and beneficial ride for you. mashaAllah.

    -Nahyan

  25. Aw you’re leaving! 🙁

Khayr inshallah, jazakallah khayr for all of your efforts and time that you put into your posts, they were of the utmost benefit to many of us it looks like. Do show up every now and then in the blogosphere. And ameen to all of your duas, may Allah have mercy on all of us.

  26. JazakhAllah for all the work on this blog bro. Its sad to hear that you’re ending this blog. I never posted but was a regular visitor for a number of years. May Allah (SWT) bless you in all your future endeavors.

  27. Salam aleikum,

Dude! You’re the Amir of the blogging world- now where will all the tabloid and rumors go to? I never touched those discussions cuz I figured, “MRs blog will handle it” Your the hungama man!

Seriously, this site was an outlet for discussion and if you stop and review, it had a real impact on the American Muslim community (remember Sami Yusuf, AlMaghrib boycott, and the Muslim rapper dudes?) and played a role in how we’ve learned things.

I think you should consider getting someone else to take over now. How about making MR an American Muslim tradition! Perhaps this is a good opportunity then maybe to hand off your blog to some Muslim activists (Islamic relief, MANA, MAC, or YM) because they could use the web traffic for a good cause and hence give you a sadaqa jariyah?

This is an amanah (responsibility, trust) so don’t take it lightly!
No one just gets up and walks away!!! 😀

  28. Ameen @ all your dua’s.

The internet will be fairly boring for me now 🙁
May Allah give you the best.

wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh

  29. The blogging world began with you and MuslimMatters.org…It wasn’t just about the content, but it was about making history and being part of history. ‘Till now, you’ve been living history, and I make Du’a that you are blessed to give much Khayr to the world henceforth.

    Will miss this blog 🙁

  30. i used to come on this blog everyday cos it was really informative nd interestin. Thanks for all your work bro, salaam
