The End – Mujahideen Ryder’s Blog (2000 to 2009) [UPDATED]

It’s been a long time with lots of fun, educational, spiritual, controversial and outrageous posts over an entire decade. The blog was bound to come to an end as do everything.

I ask Allah to forgive me for anything wrong I have said. I ask anyone who may have been hurt by my blog to forgive me. Anything good that I have written is from Allah. Anything bad is from myself and the whispers of the shaytan.

May Allah take away any suffering from any Muslim. May Allah remove the injustice around the world. May Allah bring peace to war infested lands. May Allah forgive all the wrong doers. May Allah guide all the misguided and continue to guide the guided.

Oh Allah! Forgive the Muslim men and women. Forgive the believing men and women. Those who are alive and those who died. You are indeed the One who listens and accepts all supplications.

Servants of Allah! Indeed Allah orders us to be just and to excel in what we do. Be generous and to take care of our kin and relatives. Never do what is forbidden of all sins and not to transgress. He almighty advises you so you can remember.

Verily, Salah prevents evil deeds and misconduct.

With that said, my last and final post is done.

Asalamualykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
May the peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you

UPDATE (1/2/10): Some of you suggested a I list resources that I usually go to.  Here are my sources for news articles:

  1. Reddit
I’m on reddit on a daily basis.  It’s basically a community that votes different submissions from around the web.  I use this to get the latest news around the world and in America.  The politics and world news subreddits are very good.
  2. Twitter
I find some of the most craziest links on here.  You have to really search and follow the right people. @IslamBlog and @muslimvoices are pretty good of aggregating a lot of links around the web regarding Islam and Muslims.

List for Islamic knowledge:

  1. Halal Tube
The number one reason I made that site was for myself to organize lectures.  I basically listen to all my stuff from there.  If I find something, I add it.  I know there is a submit form for anyone to add, but I’ve been lazy with that.  Hopefully now that MR has come to an end I will be able to work on Halal Tube more often.
  2. IslamQA.com
I use it to find hadith related to questions I have, not necessarily to find a fatwa.
  3. SearchTruth
Easy way to find things from the Quran and Hadith.
  4. Read!
    I read books.

  1. Salam

very sad to hear, this blog were many turn to for accurate and interessting information and which instilled intellectual refreshment will be truely well missed. Truely jazakhallah alf kheir.

    thank you

  2. You’ve done well online, but of course everyone needs to move on at some point.

You’re an intelligent guy and I have only high hopes for you my friend. I trust your decision and am confident you must be doing this for a very good reason. You’re a married man, and sometimes blogging just loses its priority or things just come up in life.. and that’s expected.

Thank you what you have done for the online Muslim community.

Well done and good luck Amir!

  3. Walaykum Salaam Wa rahmatullahi Warabikatuhu

    Ameen to your duas.

May Allah grant you Jennahtul ferdios, amen

  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….

    :'(

  5. Thanks for all your efforts! Hope you continue doing good in the deen, life, and the community.

  6. Salaam from Singapore.

I’m an avid reader of your blog. I’ve learned many things about Muslims in America from your blog.

Thank you for everything and all the best for your future endeavour.

  7. Dear MR,

Didn’t you know that when you started blogging you signed an implicit contract saying that if you ever become popular, you will be required to continue blogging indefinitely to meet the needs of your readership? The only way out of this is to become terribly unpopular. Then no one will care if you quit.

Always remember, your readers have a right over you. And you have no rights.

Also, don’t you believe in democracy? This is Web 2.0, and your readers are active participants. Do not try to flout the will of the people. Only dictators do that.

    In conclusion, consider yourself served.

  8. In all seriousness, I pray that you find ways to do something even more meaningful, whether for yourself or others.

And I hope the rest of you find other blogs to read. 🙂

  9. as salaam alaikum

Let us all keep Amir and his family in our duas.

Amir, focus on your priorities and i for one pray for u and ur family’s success, health, and well being.

  10. I was never a fan of the cherry picked Israel/Palestine articles or the incoherent babble from kids on the Lil Wayne praises Allah , I mean cHopPaH … but I’ve seen many good articles. In fact, most were good and I know MR meant well. I know MR personally enough to say he’s a good person and good Muslim. 🙂

  11. Salaam MR,

Bro, why are you making us cry? Why are you going?

If you find it busy, then I still advise you to reconsider. Although I may disagree with you on many points, I still feel there is a lot of khair in your blog. You have done what few could do…. bridge the gaps between salafis and sufis.

Struggles aren’t supposed to be easy bro. I say continue, but with a change. How about, registering new users who can also contribute to this blog? That would take some weight off your shoulders.

  12. Salam,

I’ve been reading your blog for 5 years now. It’s actually the first blog I ever subscribed to. Thank you for providing your insights and ideas over all these years.

  13. I really enjoyed your blog since i got this link two years ago. I don’t the reason why you are quitting but one request ….. create another or several “Mujahideen Ryder” and then leave.

  14. Salam dear brother,

I’ve been reading your blog for many years now… rarely (if ever commented though!).

While I am saddened, the fact is that life is about change and perhaps this change is what is good for you and your akhirah, may Allah Ta’ala put much Barakah in it.

Take care sidi and hope to bump into you some day.
    Wasalam

  15. Asalaamu alaikum wa ramatulahi wa barakatu

InshaAllah everything you do may continue to be pleasing unto Allah and consider keeping the blog, maybe you could post quarterly or something?

  16. Salaam Brother MR,

Thank you for the blogs you have posted on your site. You were a good role model for me and I am proud to call you a brother.
You have helped me understand Islam from the first day I came upon your blogs.
I am sad to say goodbye. You have a mission to please Allah and that should always be your main objective. Doesn’t just have to be all about pleasing your readers.
How ever I would like to ask if you can maybe list some of your sources, websites or other bloggers you would personally recommend.
I need some where to get useful information.

Again thank you for everything, you will be missed by everyone.
I hope the best for you and your family.

    Allah Hafiz,
    Muneeb

  17. Assalamu alaikum. Indeed this is sad. You said “The blog was bound to come to an end as do everything.” Almost everything, insha Allah your efforts and service to the ummah will be a means for you to enter the eternal abode of Jannah. May Allah continue to give you the strength to serve Him for the rest of your life and accept your service insha Allah.

  18. Salaam brother, Dawud Israel’s right, you can’t just stand up and walk away :p

But, best wishes, your blogs awesome! 😀

  19. Me thinks he’s doing this for attention. He wants ppl to beg him to stay.

OKAY MR .. we’re not going to beg you. Just leave. Delete this blog.

  20. Alhamduliliah, ive seen ur post go from boy to man! May Allah swt protect you and your family and grant you happiness in dunya and mostly Akhirah.
Jazakhullah Khairun for your endless hours of blogging and effort,

  21. It’s sad but alhamdulillah u did good MR!
I pray that you achieve success your future endeavour inshaAllah. Perhaps in 10 years biiznillah,( presumably you decided to close this blog to attain more knowledge), you might want to come back and revive this blog inshaAllah and see what stays the same and what changes in a decade.Jazakumullah khair

  22. Been reading your blog for a long time now. Never really posted comments. Just a silent observer who has benefited from your posts. Your blog seems to be a thermometer of the American Muslim community, measuring attitudes on several matters. Its reflected how we as an Ummah have grown and are growing. Jazakallah for your efforts. May Allah bless you and your efforts and reward you for your actions. Ameen.

  23. Assalaamu Alaikum.

It is a shame that MR is leaving the Muslim blogosphere.

So now that’s Izzy Mo, Tariq Nelson, and now Mujahideen Ryder. Oh yeah, and who can forget Anwar Al-Awlaki’s blog (say whatever you want about him, his blog was very popular).

Well, if I may plug my own blog, you can read a fascinating story about my personal view of Islam in America at Muslim-religion.net.

    Happy trails, MR.

    Salaams.

  24. Asalaamu Alaaikum

My sister followed your blog for a long time. She’s what you call a dedicated reader, she even browses it through mobile. I’m sure shes really going to miss the new posts.

Now, I don’t necessarily agree with all of your views but I am sad to see you go because there have been many beneficial posts. I can see why you would want to stop the blog, it takes a lot of time and effort, requires a lot of attention and focus, sometimes we can’t balance everything so it’s good to just step back and take a break.

Well, I do wish you the best in this life and the hereafter. May Allah forgive and guide us all, ameen

    Take it easy insha’Allah

    Ma’Salaama

    Sister Anisa

  25. dag bro, this came out of nowhere. Alhamdulillah, I’m sure it was for good reason, and I pray that Allah guides you to what pleases Him. Ameen to your duas along with all of the duas in the above comments.

InshaAllah I’ll see ya around 🙂

  26. Nooooooooooo! Das sad news bro…England will miss u..Allah giv u n all the readers success in dis life n da next..

  27. Assalamu-alaikum bro,

For many of us youth growing up here trying to be practicing Muslims…and at the same time being exposed to the western culture and undeniably being influenced…(the way we talk, dress..etc)…we need as many sources as we can get to show us a balanced approach to living here…whether it be an imam who grew up here but learned sound knowledge…or whether it be a program on television..in your case, it came through the form of a blog…I’ve been reading your blog for several years…and would often read it when wanting to read something more light or when taking a break…I found it very enjoyable yet beneficial as your topics ranged from hadith or ayats of Quran to world news to something silly a professional athlete has done….jazak Allah for all your hard work and insh’Allah you’ll continue to use this energy for more projects for the benefit of our ummah….may Allah accept our efforts and grant us Paradise after our very short time on this earth…..Ameen

  28. Jazakullah khrayr

Your blog gave me so much over the past 4 years I’ve read it, showing me all the good halal media on the internet and inspiring me to think about the issues you post about. I’m sure there are other good blogs, but mujahideenryder.net was really unique in way it read.

I hope your next efforts are successful

    wa alaikum assallam

  29. it hurts me the most that it’s coming to an end. I just recently discovered your blog and it was a ocean of information when it came to looking up issues of faith…thanx so much brother. May Allah bless you. I wish i caught on earlier!
