The outcome of this year’s Superbowl has reminded me of this ayah:
“They plot & plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah” (Al-Anfal:30)
As my good friend ‘Junaid from the Bronx’ always says:
“We can plan whatever we want, but Allah has the better plan.”
The New England Patriots thought they were going to win. The entire country including many NY Giant fans thought the Patriots were going to win. Allah taught us all a lesson. No matter how perfect, how strong, how undefeated a person or group can be, they can be defeated. The Patriots before the Superbowl were 18-0. No loss in the entire 2007-2008 NFL Season. After the Superbowl. Their win count remained the same at 18. The 0 jumped up to 1. Yes this is the will of Allah. So no matter how much George Bush thinks he’s in control, he’s not. Allah can take away the power within a few seconds as what happened to Tom Brady, Randy Moss and the rest of the Patriots. This goes to show you, no matter how much we plan or they plan or whoever plans, there is Allah’s plan. No matter how strong or powerful one side is, there is always the side Allah allows to win regardless of strength.
Congratulations to Eli Manning, Michael Strahan, Ahmad Bradshaw, Plaxico Buress, Amani Toomer, David Tyree and the rest of the New York Giants. We are the Superbowl XLII champions!

So today is the big day. The day when the undefeated New England Patriots take on the underdogs, the New York Giants. The Giants are on a 10-road-game winning streak. The Patriots are on a 18-game winning streak. Tom Brady and his team think they have a strong chance of winning. Most of the country thinks the Patriots will win as well. They are all wrong. New York knows the Giants will win.
InshaAllah, the Giants will win and the Patriots will go home crying.
My predicition: Giants 21, Patriots 17
May Allah (swt) give our brother Ahmad Bradshaw of the NY Giants and the rest of his team success. Ameen!

A few hours ago I had just come back from playing my weekly basketball game (I’m part of the South Asian Basketball League – Basketballers team). I was with some close friends of mine, MoSin, Ohmz, Kingheer, Brighton Beach Waqas and TallDarknKhansome. We randomly started to talk about the Kings Park Psychiatric Center on Long Island. MoSin and TallDarknKhansome had already been there with Shakin Shadhili (formerly known as Contemplating Chishti) and N Veed. They boasted of how scary it was and they did research online and read about how the place was haunted and infested with drug addicts, homeless people and other weird stories…

God willing, they will win!
Ballin’! The richest Muslim businessman in the world is the nephew of King Abdullah also known as al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud. If you haven’t heard already, he’s dropping around $2 billion to $6.88 billion to the currently failing American financial organization known as Citi or Citigroup (Citibank). Citi recently reported losses up to and more than $10 billion which shocked Wall Street. With the investments from Prince al-Waleed and others (Kuwaiti and Chinese investors) Citi hopes to cover their losses and improve their status. Oh yeah, the new CEO of Citi was born in Bombay, India: Vikram Pandit.
May Allah guide Prince al-Waleed. Ameen.

…and they were found guilty! Alhamdulillah! Good for them. The two Muslim women from Indonesia were rescued by another Muslim who was working at a Dunkin’ Donuts! MashaAllah! On a funny side note, doesn’t the Hindu women look like Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmations?
Jury Finds Millionaires Guilty in ‘Modern-Day Slavery’ Case
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — A jury on Monday convicted a millionaire couple of enslaving two Indonesian women they brought to their mansion to work as housekeepers.
Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani, 51, and his wife, Varsha Mahender Sabhnani, 45, were each convicted of all charges in a 12-count federal indictment that included forced labor, conspiracy, involuntary servitude, and harboring aliens.
Prosecutors said the women were subjected to repeated psychological and physical abuse and were forced to work 18 hours or more a day.

December 12, 2007 — A Brooklyn man whose “Happy Hanukkah” greeting landed him in the hospital said he was saved from a gang of Jew-bashing goons aboard a packed Q train by a total stranger – a modest Muslim from Bangladesh. Walter Adler was touched that Hassan Askari jumped to his aid while a group of thugs allegedly pummeled and taunted him and his three friends. So Adler has invited his new friend over to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
The two new pals – Adler, 23, with a broken nose and a fat lip, and Askari, 20, with two black eyes – broke bread together and laughed off the bruises the night after the fisticuffs.
“A random Muslim guy jumped in and helped a Jewish guy on Hanukkah – that’s a miracle,” said Adler, an honors student at Hunter College.

NEW YORK (AFP) – New York’s iconic Empire State Building is to be lit up green from Friday in honor of the Muslim holiday of Eid, the biggest festival in the Muslim calendar marking the end of Ramadan, officials said.
“This is the first time that the Empire State Building will be illuminated for Eid, and the lighting will become an annual event in the same tradition of the yearly lightings for Christmas and Hannukah,” according to a statement.
Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month, is expected to be celebrated in New York from Friday, depending on when the new moon is sighted, and the city’s tallest skyscraper will remain green until Sunday.
