The second picture makes me feel like she is saying to her self, “La ila ha ilallah”.

Dear Mr. President,

I express my gratitude and my best respect for the contribution of the United States of America to our Uighur community. At the same time, I express my gratitude for your right and prompt decision to close the jail of Guantánamo Bay. I hope you will forgive my English, which I have tried to learn.

I hope my letter will find you in a good health. Please allow me to express my wish and prayer to read my letter.

My name is Abu Bakker and I’m writing on behalf of Ahmet, Aktar, Ejup, with whom I have lived since May 2006 in Albania, the only country that offered us political asylum from Guantánamo when US courts concluded that we were not enemy combatants.

I would like to write something about myself. The Uighur people have a proverb: “Who thinks about the end will never be a hero.” Obviously it is human to think about the end, as it is human for me to remember things long ago.

30.12.2000. My last night in my little home. No one was sleeping … not even my eight-month twins in my wife’s womb. No one was speaking … even my two-year old son … I had decided that I would confess that night to my wife the end I had thought of in my heart, but I hesitated because of a question my son had asked me, that I could not answer. It was at the beginning of winter. We were standing near the oven, and I was cuddling his hands. He took with his little hands my forefinger.

Dad! Is a fingernail a bone?

No, I said. The fingernail is not a bone.

It is flesh?

No. Neither is it flesh.

So, the fingernail: what is it, Dad?

I didn’t know.

I don’t know, I said.

So small was my boy, and I couldn’t answer his questions. And when he grows up and the questions are not about the fingernail? How shall I answer then?

31.12.2000. Without telling the end, without turning back my head, without fear I started my long and already known way. “Ah, if only …! Ah, if only I reach Istanbul, am hired in the factory, to work day and night, to save my self and money. God is great! Ah, if only I could bring my wife there, my son and — the most important — to see my twins for the first time in Istanbul. To hold them on my breast, to pick up as I could … to show my son and to tell to them: We are from the place where the sun rises. I would embrace them, I would answer all of their questions, I would teach to them everything my mother taught me, as her mother taught her, to my grandmother her grandmother … as though in a movie with a happy ending: me film director, me scenarist, me at the lead role. The hero of my dearest people … Me.”

After three years and a half, questions after questions, the military tribunal in Guantánamo asked me:

If you will die here, what will you think at your last minutes?

I’m a husband and a father that is dying in the heroism’s ways, I answered and I asked the permission to put a question of my own.

If Guantánamo Bay were closed today, would you be a hero for your children?

I was proclaimed innocent. The lawyer proposed — meantime we were waiting for a state which will accept us — to live in a hotel in the Military Base of Guantánamo Bay. No way! We were put in a camp near to the jail, which was called “Iguana Camp.” We were nine. Sometimes, one of my friends asked the soldiers about the time. Even today, I hadn’t understood why he needed to know the time. I asked the time … I had reasons …

In Camp Iguana, there were iguanas. We fed them with bread, so they began to enter in our dormitory. All of us needed their company. Sometimes, when they were late, everyone missed them …

One morning, I had an unforgettable surprise from my friends. They gave to me cake from their meal, since that day was my twins’ birthday. The same day, in our dormitory entered two iguanas and I give to them the cake … thinking about my kids … thinking about my end … My dream finished from Istanbul to Guantánamo, from my kids to iguanas …

Finally in 2006 I arrived in Albania, my second homeland. The ring of the telephone! What anxiety! Are they alive? For the first time, I spoke with my wife and my kids. They were alive!

Every morning, I go out of my home before the sun rises and wait for him with the hands up and empty. Since I’m still from the country where the sun rises. I think about the family which perhaps I will never see again and I resolve not to forget my vow, seven years ago, to be their hero.

Yet, Mr. President, seventeen of my brothers remain in that prison today. It is three years since I left the prison, and still they are there. Please end their suffering soon. Your January 22 words were so welcome to us, and I congratulate you for that and for your historic election. But many months have passed.

For the four of us who remain in Albania (one of us is in Sweden today, trying for asylum), life is very hard, and our future still seems far away. I hope that one day soon your government and countrymen will meet our seventeen brothers. Maybe when that day comes there would be hope that we might come to America too.

Mr. President.

In life not everyone will reach his desired end. Perhaps you don’t know, but we are similar … Except as to the end. Since you, like me, without thinking abut the end of your long way, managed to be a hero … I’m at Your side … I’m proud of you …

Mr. President.

Please allow me to share with You a thought. Gift a pair of shoes to every child, to every woman, or every barefoot man since the barefoot people doesn’t think too much before walking on the dirty mud. Begin with everything from above.

Where do the Muslims get weapons?

The non-Muslims.

Arms dealers in Russia, China, Europe and America love to sell weapons to rich Muslims who then funnel it to other groups who then trade it to other groups and so on until it gets into the hand of a soldier who begins firing it at either a “deviant” Muslims and/or the opposing foreign forces in their country. In other words the only winners are the illegal arms dealers around the world who are making money off the blood of Muslims (mostly). This is why I strongly oppose groups who deal with arms dealers who help fund their illegal business that usually include arms dealing, drug dealing and human trafficking (sex slaves of young girls).

How can you fight Jihad with weapons bought from people who use young girls from South East Asia as sex slaves? Or from Russian and Chinese gangs who deal with drugs and prostitution? Even one of the great Salafi scholars, Sh. Albani said that the Muslims will not be successful if they use the weapons of the non-Muslims.

I have nothing against those who are trying to defend their homes and land.  It is obligatory for us to defend ourselves when under attack.  The Iraq war is coming to an end and eventually many of the American and other foreign forces will leave in the coming years, but they’ll still be fighting, because some groups do nott want to work with the Muslim Iraqi government and feel the need to get rid of the shia or deviant sunnis. This is where the Mujahideen turn into thugs. They aren’t killing fee sabelillah or for the protection of their homeland. There killing Muslims because they don’t support them. It’s like the gangs in America. They kill others because they don’t agree with them.

From Mujahideen of the Shores to Pirates of the Seas

An example would be the Somali Pirates who’s purpose is to make money. Originally it was pure and solely to defend their shores and land from illegal ships dumping toxic waste. As years went by some began to take other ships and ransom them. The money corrupted them and now that’s all they want. I have some family who are from Kenya and they discuss how the Somali’s buy up all the nice houses in Kenya because there is nothing to buy in Somalia thus causing inflation in Kenya. They also have support from “investors” in other countries such as Dubai who get a percentage of the ransom money depending on how great the ship is and how rich the owner/country is. It’s now a business of pirating ships. While their country suffers they are busy making money driving around in Land Rovers paying $50,000 in cash as a mahr (wedding gift) for any woman of their choice. Their original jihad against the ships dumping toxic waste became corrupted and completely left their scope. Now Somalia will suffer much more because of a bunch of thugs.

Gangs, Robbers and Thieves thriving in Pakistan/Afghanistan

This is what is happening in Pakistan and Afghanistan. There are thugs going around killing innocent people and ransoming others for money. A friend who has family in Afghanistan told me under the Taliban they were safe and could leave the city and drive around, but now there are thugs and robbers on the roads who kill anyone for money. He told me a story of his family’s business truck driver who transported goods was tied up and killed. When they tried to perform ghusl on his body, they couldn’t move his hands due to the stiffness of his body showing that he had been dead for a long time and left there.

These thugs wear turbans, have beards and many times “claim” they are the fighting for Islam, but in reality they are far from it. I’m sure many of you have seen the video that was propagated throughout the media of the young woman being beaten in public. What I don’t understand is where in the seerah or where is an example of the Sahabas beating a women in public? Seriously, can someone show me the evidences for this “punishment”?  Is this a true scholar applying the shariah? Would Abu Bakr or any of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do this? Would Shaykh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah increase him) do this? Or are they practicing “thug Islam”? I have read that even some mujahideen disapproved of their actions and questioned if they were even part of the Islamic group establishing shariah.

No Islamic State anywhere around the world anytime soon

There is none. Others may have differences with me, but I don’t see it. After Amir-ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (radiaAllahuanhum), there were no more “pure” Islamic states. That’s why the first four are called the “Rightly-Guided” Khulafa. After that they were was no 100% Islamic state. The Umayyads, the Abbasids, the Ottomans and the rest of the dynasties all ruled the “Islamic State” but there were many things wrong with it but it was still an “Islamic State”. Some were Sunni.  Some were Shia.  Some were Sufis.  Alcohol was even consumed under some Islamic States. Many famous scholars such as Imam Malik and Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal were jailed because of their preaching against the governments. Many of these Khulafa would be considered deviant by different groups of today which basically says for 1000s of years Muslims have been living in “corrupt and deviant” Islamic states.  Now some groups thing they can establish a pure Islamic state within a few years? Give me a break. As much as I dislike Saudi Arabia, they are more Islamic than Afghanistan.  Yemen is more Islamic than Pakistan. The only Islamic state that can be established anytime soon is a corrupt one. Oh wait, we already have that: all the Muslim countries.

Everyone cries about 1924 being the year the Khilafah ended. Read about 1910 or 1900 under the Ottoman Caliphate. It’s nothing compared to what the Muslims want in Iraq or Afghanistan/Pakistan. Nothing like it. The true 100% Islamic Khilafah ended after Ali radiAllahuanhum.  How about working with all Muslims instead of declaring who’s blood is halal or not and then establish an economy, an infrastructure and a social system before grabbing the AK-47 and shouting “Allah hu Akbar” then shooting a Shia or a “murtad” (i.e. a Muslim who doesn’t agree with them).  You can buy weapons from the kuffar but you can’t even work with a Muslim?

The Best and Most Successful Solution

The solution to all of this is to use the greatest weapon Allah has blessed us and the most significant and productive weapon used by Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his companions may Allah be pleased with them all.  Jihad and warfare can give you power, land, money and even respect, but it can’t give you this.

Dawah: calling people to tawhid.

Dawah and spreading the message of Islam is how Islam spread far and wide.  Yes, Islam was spread by the sword but it was also spread by trading, traveling, teaching, social work and other non-violent means. Ultimately it was the dawah of the Muslims that fully spread Islam throughout the world. Islam may have been spread with Jihad but that was after the Khilafah was well established. We’re back at the beginning struggling to find one. Dawah should be our primary and main objective throughout the

May Allah continue to bless those Muslims who are fighting for Islam, fighting oppression and fighting injustice around the world. Ameen!

China to build Mecca rail system

China has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia to build a new railway system linking the main sites of the annual Muslim pilgrimage, the Hajj.

The new railway will connect the city of Mecca with the pilgrim destinations of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah.

Saudi Arabia also plans to build a high-speed rail link to take pilgrims from Mecca to Medina, Islam’s two holiest cities, in 30 minutes.

The journey time by road can take anywhere between four and five hours.

Millions of Islamic faithful descend on Mecca during the annual mass pilgrimage.

The new network in Saudi Arabia is expected to be ready within three years, with one section of the line due to be completed in time for the 2010 Hajj, officials said.

The contract, worth almost $1.8bn (£1.24bn), was awarded to the China Railway Company and a French firm.

The project was announced during a three-day visit by the Chinese President, Hu Jintao, to Saudi Arabia.

China is becoming a key contractor on infrastructure projects in the oil-rich kingdom.

BEIJING — Local governments in a Muslim desert region in western China have imposed strict limits on religious practices during the traditional Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which began last week, according to the Web sites of four of those governments.

The rules include prohibiting women from wearing veils and men from growing beards, as well as barring government officials from observing Ramadan. One town, Yingmaili, requires that local officials check up on mosques at least twice a week during Ramadan.

Let’s boycott China! Oh wait…we can’t because everything (well a lot of thigns) are “made in China”.
