The End - 2000 to 2009

Islam, Muslim, Blog, Muslims

Amazing story.

At age 17, Tariq Farid borrowed $5,000 from his parents to buy a flower shop in East Haven, Connecticut, and within two years, he was running four flourishing stores. But after seven years as a florist, he came up with a new idea–bouquets you can eat. He and his brother Kamran opened their first Edible Arrangements store in 1999, creating, selling and delivering bouquets of fresh fruit sculpted to look like flowers.

Edible Arrangements began franchising in 2001. In 2006, they launched an add-on concept, Frutation, which gives franchisees the opportunity to offer fruit salads, smoothies and juices to go, alongside their fruit bouquets.

I went to their website and saw they had a nice Ramadan Kareem gift here.

MashaAllah!  What a generous gift in the month of Ramadan.

The creation of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation was made possible by a $150 million gift from the government of of Abu Dhabi, representing a shared vision to significantly and measurably advance medical innovation to create healthier and safer surgical outcomes for children worldwide.

The gift is the largest ever for pediatric surgery, and one of the largest gifts to a children’s hospital.  Most of the gift — $125 million — will cover the staff, facilities, and technology needed to enable the most advanced care and research in the area of pediatric surgery, including $25 million for an endowment to support the Institute. The remaining $25 million will be devoted to instiutional priorities as designated by the Board of Directors at Children’s National.

Children’s National Medical Center has a longstanding relationship with the United Arab Emirates and treats many UAE patients every year.  The advances in pediatric medicine made at the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation will have an impact on the children inWashington, in the UAE, and across the globe.

The government of Abu Dhabi made the gift in honor of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates and the country’s president from 1971 until his death in 2004.  Gifts have been made in Sheikh Zayed’s name to several other institutions, including Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic.

In addition to naming the Institute for Sheikh Zayed, the main campus of Children’s National Medical Center will be named the Sheikh Zayed Campus for Advanced Pediatric Medicine.

Sh. Abdullah Hakim Quick joins AlMaghrib Institute

AlMaghrib Institute is the new scholar monopoly! haha. Shaykh Muhammad AlShareef writes:

Allahu akbar!

This annoucement for me is like when your local sports team announces that one of the greatest players in the game is now going to be wearing your jersey. (My heart is beating fast right now with excitment)

When I was very young, little kid in a Masjid in Winnipeg, the uncles gathered the youth together for a lecture from this vising speaker from Toronto. I loved his lecture, and I was so impressed that he was using names and terms that I, as a kid, was familiar with. (come to think of it, that may be the first time I was exposed to that style, it became my style years later). It was sh.Abdullah Hakim Quick.

Recently, I’ve been to a half dozen or so conferences with sh.Abdullah Hakim Quick was also one of the speakers. I find that when there is a crowded room at these conferences and you are looking for someone familiar, someone comfortable, someone you know you can enjoy your evening sitting beside and discussing things with … I will always gravitate to sh.Abdullah Hakim Quick (and alhamdulillah, I hope I’ve read it correctly, he also enjoys my company in the same way. At least I hope so, lol.)

Here is his bio:

Abdullah Hakim Quick was born in the United States and accepted Islam in Canada in 1970. He graduated from the College of Da‘wah and Usul al-Din at the Islamic University of Medina in 1979. He obtained an M.A. and a PhD in African history at the University of Toronto, where he examined the life of the West African scholar and social activist, Usman Dan Fodio A. H. Quick has been a teacher and counsellor in Canada, the United States, and the West Indies. He has travelled to more than 55 countries around the world teaching and doing research.

Currently, he is Senior Lecturer at The True Dawn Institute and a member of the Muslim Judicial Council. He is also Director of the Discover Islam Centre in Cape Town, South Africa

You have seen him on TV: Islam channel, Huda TV, Peace TV.
You have seen him in conferences the world over: Canada, USA, UK, Dr.Zakir’s conference in India, Australia.

And now, you will get to learn from him from the comfort of your AlMaghrib chairs!

Please join with me in giving the biggest ever welcome to your new AlMaghrib instructor: Sh.Abdullah Hakim Quick!

Sh. Yasir Qadhi explains Ilmfest

Check out the website for more information and how to register.

A WOMAN who won over £1.9 million ($3.67 million) as a teenager says she never should have been allowed to spend her fortune at such a young age.

Callie Rogers, 22, won the lottery when she was 16 years old and proceeded to go on a “never-ending spending spree”, News Of The World reports.

The second-youngest British person to win lotto spent the money on booze, two boob jobs and almost $500,000 of cocaine.

About $400,000 was spent on a family holiday while a large amount was also spent on a string on boyfriends.

When she won the million-dollar prize, she was earning almost $7 as a shelf stacker for her local supermarket. Now she lives at home with her mum.

“I honestly wish I’d never won the lottery money – and knowing what I know now I should have just given it all back to them,” Ms Rogers told News Of The World.

SubhanAllah! She made it big but yet it was taken all away from her within a short period of time. Now she wishes she never even won the money.

Muslims who enjoy the “clubin” lifestyle should watch this

SubhanAllah, this man is living proof why it is completely 100% pointless for Muslims to enjoy the club. It’s dry and temporary enjoyment. Infinite happiness is with God and Islam.

May Allah guide us all to the sweetness of faith in submission to God.
