Nightclubs are Hell

A non-Muslim, yup a non-Muslim, talks about how clubs are wack. Send this to all your clubbin’ Muslim friends (yes I know you know some because I know some).

Here are my favorite parts of the article:

Clubs are despicable. Cramped, overpriced furnaces with sticky walls and the latest idiot theme tunes thumping through the humid air so loud you can’t hold a conversation, just bellow inanities at megaphone-level. And since the smoking ban, the masking aroma of cigarette smoke has been replaced by the overbearing stench of crotch sweat and hair wax.

Clubs are such insufferable dungeons of misery, the inmates have to take mood-altering substances to make their ordeal seem halfway tolerable. This leads them to believe they “enjoy” clubbing. They don’t. No one does. They just enjoy drugs.

Alhamdulillah for Islam and alhamdulillah I never went to a club! Here is the full article:

Nightclubs are hell. What’s cool or fun about a thumping, sweaty dungeon full of posing idiots?

  • Halal Tube – Officially launched!

Alhamdulillah! I am proud to announce the launch of a new exciting site:

    Halal Tube

I made this site with the intention of organizing every single Islamic lecture, talk, khutbah, video, etc. from YouTube, Google Video, etc. Halal Tube makes it easy for everyone to find a lecture by a specific speaker instead of searching throughout the web to find it. Just click the speaker and bam, the list of lectures are there. The only way to make this really work is for everyone around the globe to submit videos that are not on Halal Tube to us so we can put it up.

Check it out! Feedback is always welcome!

    Abeer Hamza Memorial

Bro. Jinnzaman has called upon the worldwide Muslim ummah to remember the suffering, pain and death of our young sister in Islam, Abeer Hamza in Iraq. Click here to read more about it.

May Allah (swt) grant them both jannah and keep their families strong and steadfast in their trying times. Ameen!

    MRevolution begins!

Alhamdulillah! It is only by the will of God that I can do all this.

I honestly didn’t spend much time on this design and a lot of the links are still a working progress. MR Tube and MR Gallery aren’t up yet. MR Radio will be upgraded and new songs will be added inshaAllah.

    MR’s Book Club

The most exciting new feature that I have added is called “MR’s Book Club”. I will not lie, I got the idea from Oprah’s Book Club (through “half my deen”). It’s an amazing idea for me personally, because I don’t really read much but I love discussion forums. So basically MR’s Book Club is an online discussion forum specifically dedicated to books. The books will be chosen by you (the members of the community) and approved by myself.

    The first two books are:

    • The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf
    • Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins

InshaAllah I hope a lot of people will join in on the discussions and eventually we can evolve to be better Muslims, and ultimately intelligent human beings. After all, reading is power!

    MR’s Notes

This is the other new feature which I have added to the site. I have been blessed to attend many conferences, conventions, courses, intensives, and other Islamic events. I have over 100s of pages of notes (written or typed) that are in my room collecting dust. I decided that over the next month I will add them all to my site for everyone to benefit from inshaAllah. So please bear with me while I organize this.

So there you have it! MRevolution finally begins!

During the next coming months, you will see a lot more beneficial content added to the site either through the Book Club or the Notes page.

May Allah (swt) forgive me for anything wrong I have said. May Allah (swt) purify my intentions. May Allah (swt) only bring good from this project. May Allah (swt) accept your duas. May Allah (swt) grant us all jannah. Ameen.

JazakAllah khair and thank you for the continuous support. It is you, the reader, who motivates me to do more for the ummah through this site. Thank you again!

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi: Doritos is Halal [for some]! (Updates: 1)

    • Author: MR
    • Date: Jul 10,2007 | 09:45 AM

Doritos is Halal!Allah hu Akbar! This is an amendment from my previous post in which I shared some information saying that Doritos were not halal, but Shaykh Yasir Qadhi has a detailed article on why Doritos is halal. It’s called Of Mice and Men – The Cheese Factor.

I guess you can call this the first step towards unity from my previous post. 😀

Updates: For those who follow hanafi and shafi’ fiqh, it’s not halal. The hadith used for daleel only applies to water. For hanafi’s see Jinnzaman’s comment below.

    The state of America

That picture really sums it up. Just look at the recent headlines:

A President Besieged and Isolated, Yet at Ease – George W. Bush has invited a range of scholars to the White House to discuss how his presidency has gotten off course. (July 2, 2007, Washington Post)

Poll: Americans say US is off-track – Majority Says Founding Fathers Would Be Disappointed In U.S. Today (July 1, 2007, CBS)

    What about the World?

Europeans see US as the biggest threat to peace – Europeans consistently regard the US as the biggest threat to world stability

China is the main financer of the trillion-dollar Iraq war to help America screw itself – And they will not finance the rebuilding.

Sheesha is banned in the UK

Shout out to Adeel for this. Check this article out from BBC news on the new ban of sheesha in the UK. Ulema have passed fatwas declaring that sheesha is haram here. Those sheesha cafes on Steinway (Queens, NY) might want pay extra attention to this, since the US might follow along just for the heck of it.

    Pipe dream

    By Mukul Devichand
    BBC Asian Network

The impending smoking ban in England could spell the end for cafes which practise the ancient habit of shisha.

“I know this is going to sound like a strange description,” said Kate as she inhaled deeply on her shisha pipe.

“But it’s almost the equivalent of being on your own and getting into a lovely fragrant bubble bath.”
