Anyways brothers, I’ve added some comedic relief to my comments, so here it goes:

Sahih Bukhari
Volume 7, Book 69, Number 534:

Narrated Abu Qatada: Allah’s Apostle said, “When you drink (water), do not breath in the vessel; and when you urinate, do not touch your penis with your right hand. And when you cleanse yourself after defecation, do not use your right hand.”

My commentary: Thank God, we greet each other with our right hands.

Sahih Muslim
Book 002, Number 0554:

Abu Huraira reported: the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: None amongst you should urinate in standing water, and then wash in it.

Book 002, Number 0555:

Hammam b. Munabbih said: Of the ahadith narrated to us by Abfi Huraira from Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) one is this: The Messenger or Allah (may peace be upon him) said: You should not urinate in standing water, that is not flowing, then wash in it.

My Commentary: Looks like we should flush as we do our thing. EDIT: I mis-read the hadith. It means you can’t use stagnant water to release unless and use it for wudhu. Using the toilet with stagnant water is the fine, since you don’t use toilet water to make wudhu. I know at home and relatives’ house we don’t really have much issues there, but in public places where we don’t know how clean the bathroom facility can be it can become difficult.

I’m a germaphobe so I usually have two options when using public facilities:

• The Floating Method:
  I use the “floating” method. Basically it’s like your sitting on something that’s not there above the toilet. So your not standing, but your sitting without touching the seat.
• Hold it and Pray for no speeding ticket:
  Basically keep it in and locate the nearest “safe” house (home, relatives place, hotel rooms, known safe locations for depositing waste, etc.). This will require a well trained driver in extreme circumstances so throw in some duas for no speeding tickets.

Why not stand or use the urinal?

I’m not going to hate, you can stand, but my issue is the collateral damage that comes with using this method.  Purity is very important and any drop of impurity ruins that.

What about istinja?

Well, every brother has his own standard and way. In the “safe” houses, we’re pretty much safe. It has all the features that are necessary to fully satisfy our cleaning procedure. When it comes to the public facilities there are various ways. The plastic water bottle is popular. Some soak the paper, but everyone does it somehow.

Purell

If your mom, wife, sister, daughter, etc. does not have this in her bag, then make sure they do. It comes in handy when the water fails to work in the sink (it can happen). Usually most females carry this around, so you should be straight, inshaAllah.

Lastly, don’t stand in the “safe” houses!

They should also do 30 taraweeh’s. Split it up evenely, half 20s and half 8s.

Dear Sameer:

It’s so nice to hear from you again. Thank you for your continued interest in The Cheesecake Factory! To answer your question, several of our cheesecakes do contain animal gelatin. The majority of those use beef gelatin, however two varieties do contain pork gelatin: our 30th Anniversary Chocolate Cake Cheesecake and our Lemoncello Cream Torte.

As with most high end pastries and desserts, we have chosen products containing gelatin over products containing a host of gums and artificial additives. Gelatin is not added directly to any of our desserts, rather it is a sub ingredient in one of the essential ingredients in these cakes. The amount would be considered trace.

We continue to search for and test ingredients that contain neither, however at this time a suitable substitution has not been found. In the interim, I have provided a list below for our cakes which do contain animal gelatin. I hope that this information is helpful and will allow you to continue to enjoy our wonderful desserts.

This is hilarious. I have no idea what is going on but I have a theory. The beggar is non-Muslim, because if he was a Muslim, he’d be praying (at least I’d hope so). The beggar is trying to benefit from the generosity of Muslims, especially the ones who come to the Masjid for prayer. They would be the most generous. The first brother who comes late to the salah gives the beggar some money. The second brother does not and faces the punishment of being tripped by the beggar, which causes a domino effect to completely obliterate the entire line of brothers in prayer.

Is this staged? Possibly. Is this for real? Allah knows best.

I just think it’s funny. Hahaha!

Having been to Australia I will share with you my observations.

First of all, the lamb is treated very humanely during the entire process. The slaughter floor itself has an arrow painted on the ground pointing toward Mecca. When the lamb reaches the Muslim slaughter man it is presented to Allah, a prayer is recited and with a single cut with a very sharp knife the lamb is then bled. I am of the understanding that at this point the lamb is considered Halal slaughter.

Here is the second email from Marybeth Laleman who said:

Hello Sir,

I can only speak for the lamb produced and imported by the Australian Lamb
Company Inc (USA) and LTD (Canada). The largest retailer of Australian Lamb
in the US and Canada is Costco Wholesale.

The Australian Lamb Company Inc/LTD is the producer and importer of the
Kirkland Signature brand of lamb for Costco Wholesale. All of the lamb
produced for Costco is halal.

The lambs are handled in a humane manner, are presented towards Mecca to
Allah as a prayer is recited by a Muslim slaughter man who ensures only a
single cut with a very sharp knife is used. Subsequently, the product is
certified Halal. You can consume lamb purchased at Costco with confidence is
its meeting the halal standard.

The master cartons that Costco receives do have an MS (Muslim Slaughter)
legend on them with the accrediting authority noted. The individual packages
do not carry a MS legend, but they will in the future. Further over site is
ensured by AQUIS, the Australian Government equivalent to the USDA.

Halal Slaughter

The Muslim consumer market is very important to the Australian meat
industry. Australia has a Government Supervised Muslim Slaughter System
(AGSMS) which ensures high quality product that is strictly Halal (“lawful”
in Arabic). Australia is recognized as a world leader in Halal meat
production. For its success, the AGSMS relies heavily upon the involvement
and expertise of various Islamic organizations. These organizations are
licensed to supervise, inspect and certify all Halal meat and meat products
by the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS).

Halal meat must have a program which complies 100 percent with AGSMS
guidelines. All Halal meat processing facilities must submit to regular
AGSMS inspections:

Processors may only employ registered Muslim slaughter men. Haram
(“unlawful”) meat may not be processed in the same area as Halal product
Halal and non-Halal product must be adequately separated and identified at
all times Equipment must be thoroughly cleaned and washed if non-Halal meat
has been in contact Only genuine Halal products may be issued a Halal
certificate and only by recognized Islamic organizations.

Now the question is why do they have to point it towards Mecca? All I know is that you simply just slaughter the animal with a sharp knife at the neck killing it instantly without any pain and suffering. Maybe they were confused when the butchers faced Mecca to pray.

Well anyways upon visiting another Austrialian Lamb website here, I came across the “Halal Slaughter” text, Marybeth was talking about (Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it).

They also had a list of vendors in the United States that sold it and most of the common ones I recognized in NY and MD (since I claim both states as home now) were Costco, Giant, Safeway and Stop & Shop.  The full list can be found here.  Here is a list of all the Halal exporters of meat from Australia.
