IslamCrunch recently posted about a site which offers one entire page listing rss feeds from various Muslim news, sites, blogs and basically anything related to Islam and Muslims. This is really good to find out what’s hot in the online Muslim ummah. It is also good to find blogging material that or blogs that you never knew existed. The creator of the website is Guy Kawasaki, who was very friendly with me suggesting some sites to add. I told him about MuslimMatters.org, Seekers Digest and some other blogs. You can tweet him here and ask him to add any other Muslim blog or sites that you may not see on the page.
The United States military claims they have killed 14 “militants” with the attack, but the people in the area where the air raid hit and reportes saw something totally different. This quote is coming from a person within the Iraqi government which is an “ally” to America:
“They (the Americans) will say it was a weapons cache (they hit),” said the head of Baghdad’s health department, Dr Ali Bistan. “But, in fact they want to destroy the infrastructure of the country.”
When the Iraqi government is saying America is destroying Iraq, then you know America (Bush) is the real terrorist (not Americans, but the government and foreign policies that allow for these terrorist actions). May God grant the highest heaven for the innocent people killed. May God give what is best to the oppressors. Ameen!

JEDDAH — The eastern city of Dammam is readying to host the first official film festival in Saudi Arabia, a conservative Gulf kingdom where cinema houses are non-existent. “The festival is a first step to introduce the Saudi cinema and promote a cinematic culture,” Ahmed al-Mulla, the chairman of the organizing committee, told IslamOnline.net.The five-day festival, to be inaugurated on May 20, is sponsored by the state-run Dammam Literary Club and underwritten by the Saudi Society of Arts and Culture.
This is good and bad. Good because we might get some really decent films about Muslim culture and Islamically themed films. Bad because it might end up to be the Arab version of Bollywood.

Also, Obama’s campaign confirmed yesterday that it is setting up a joint fund-raising committee with the Democratic National Committee, an arrangement that allows donors to write one check to be divided between the candidate and the national party, which can use its share to help the candidate. The contribution limit is $28,500, compared to $2,300 for the general election for donations directly to a candidate.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is the final decision maker in selecting either Obama or Clinton to be the Democratic Presidential candidate. This joint fundraising committee is usually set up for the nominee. John McCain has one with the Republican party. Clinton has nothing. Actually, Clinton is in debt due to her campaign spending.

The story is really sad but the outcome is really good. The father and husband were both jailed, alhamdulillah. Basically to sum up what happened to this young Muslim girl. She was forced into a marriage with a 30-year-old man. She was not treated well, so she ran away and went to the court and spoke to Muhammed Al-Qathi, the court judge and he heard her out, although it was never heard of. May Allah (swt) bless Muhamamd Al-Qathi for following Islam and promoting the good and forbidding the evil. May Allah (swt) protect this young sister and all other young Muslim sisters around the world who are forced into these situations. Ameen!

Marouf Ould Haiba is one of four alleged al-Qaeda militants accused of shooting the tourists as they ate a picnic in south Mauritania in December.Fellow suspect Sidi Ould Sidna escaped from police in the capital, Nouakchott, as he was due to go on trial last week.
The getaway sparked a manhunt leading to two deadly shootouts in the city.
Mr Haiba is being questioned by police after being caught in the capital dressed in the black robes worn by some strict Muslim women that hide the entire body apart from the eyes.
“He was disguised as a woman and was carrying a weapon under his dress,” Hindou Mint Hainina, a government spokesman, told Reuters new agency.
“He had been trailed by the police for several days and is currently being questioned in Nouakchott’s central police station.”
Now that’s straight up wack. If your going to shoot four innocent tourists you should man up and don’t hide behind women’s clothing. What if those tourists converted/reverted to Islam due to visiting the Muslim country? SubhanAllah, this guy might have just killed potential Muslims! He had to get paid to do this, because there is no way a Muslim brother would dress in women’s clothing for the sake of Allah to enjoin good and forbid evil. No way! Show me the money!

Sad story. Please help if you can:
On the evening of Monday March 31st a Somali familyin Ottawa, Ontario lost their home in a fire. There were 7 children inthe family, and as the mother tried to round them up to escape, theyoungest became confused and ran in the opposite direction. He did notmake it out of the fire, he was 2 and a half years old (named Khalid).The father was at work, checked in on his family half an hour beforethe fire, and came home to find his house burned to the ground.
It was an electrical fire and was not caused by any mistake on the family’s part. Everything in the house was lost!

Muslims more numerous than Catholics

VATICAN CITY - Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world’s largest religion, the Vatican newspaper said Sunday.
“For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top: Muslims have overtaken us,” Monsignor Vittorio Formenti said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano. Formenti compiles the Vatican’s yearbook.
He said that Catholics accounted for 17.4 percent of the world population — a stable percentage — while Muslims were at 19.2 percent.
“It is true that while Muslim families, as is well known, continue to make a lot of children, Christian ones on the contrary tend to have fewer and fewer,” the monsignor said.
Formenti said that the data refer to 2006. The figures on Muslims were put together by Muslim countries and then provided to the United Nations, he said, adding that the Vatican could only vouch for its own data.
When considering all Christians and not just Catholics, Christians make up 33 percent of the world population, Formenti said.
Spokesmen for the Vatican and the United Nations did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment Sunday.

The U.S. economy lost the title of “world’s biggest” to the euro zone this week as the value of the dollar slumped in currency markets.
I have blogged about the economy a few times (here, here, here and here) over the past several months. Many people say, “Oh it will bounce back, this is normal.” I’m sorry, this is not normal and it’s going to take a lot of hard work to bounce back. Me personally, I see this as a punishment from Allah (swt) to America for all their oppression around the world. For us, who are living in America, well we’re going to have to save and utilize our funds in the most efficient manner, unless the next President re-structures the mortgage faulting disaster.
