Why start off Ramadan on day 1, when you can get a head start? Ramadan is like a race. A race to get blessings and forgiveness. Most people start the race on the 1st day of Ramadan, thus the day before they are still in there ready position. Ready to jump off and start running. With the start of the 2008 Olympics in China, I thought it would be appropiate to compare the two. Specifically the running races. If one was to get a head start running say 10-15 feet before the start line and begin running, as they pass the start line, the would already have a head start then those who jumped from there ready position. They would theoretically win the race since they were already running. Although this is illegal in the Olympics, it’s not illegal to get a head running start before Ramadan.
Start reading more of the Qur’an (practice for MR’s Online Quran Reading Contest coming up), fast a few days, and pray that extra sunnah and nafl prayers. This is your head start in the 2008 Ramadan Olympics. Why settle for bronce and silver when you can get gold? Have you ever seen how the participants of the Olympics cry and are extremely happy over a gold medal? Our gold medal is even greater and is ever lasting. Our gold medal is given to us by our creator and it is not man-made. Our gold medal is greater than all those gold medals the Olympics has. Our gold medal is heaven.
The month of Ramadan is the best month to increase your chances of winning the gold medal. So let us all try to get running start and beat the rest of the participants while they are still in the ready position.
Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Fifa president Sepp Blatter’s suggestion that he should be able to leave Manchester United if he wants.
For those who don’t know the football/soccer world has been following Ronaldo around trying to figure out if he is going to leave Manchester United and join Real Madrid. If you don’t know Real Madrid, you probably know Zidane. Zidane played for Real Madrid.
The Lakers were completely crushed by the Celtics who are now the 2008 NBA Champions. Ray Allen by himself thrashed the Lakers with 3 after 3 in the 4th quarter. KG and Paul Pierce also dominated offensively. Rajon Rando was the defensive player of the game for the Celtics with over 6 steals.
The game is not even over and I’m writing this post. Anyways, let’s go Knicks 2009?
No it’s not over! Ever since the Detroit Pistons lost to the Celtics, I’ve been rooting for the Lakers in the 2008 NBA Playoffs. I know everyone is saying that Garnett, Pierce and Allen deserve an NBA title along with the Celtics franchise. All the NBA gurus and “experts” have already declared victory for the Celtics. Me on the other hand, I’m with the Lakers. I’m with Kobe Bryant. I think the Lakers can pull the greatest NBA Finals comeback in the history of the league. Although the odds are against my view, I think Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant can carry their team to Game 7 and it is there that the true champions will arise.
Organizers said they worked hard to ensure that the monument complied with Olajuwon’s Islamic beliefs. Rockets spokesman Nelson Luis told The Associated Press that details about the monument had not been released.Houston television station KRIV reported that it would focus on his jersey and accomplishments, but in keeping with the tenets of his Muslim faith, it won’t include a picture or likeness of him.
Alhamdulillah. “Hakeem the dream” was one of the greatest NBA players of all time. May Allah (swt) bless him and his family and accept their good needs rewarding them with jannat-ul-firdaus.
The outcome of this year’s Superbowl has reminded me of this ayah:
“They plot & plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah” (Al-Anfal:30)
As my good friend ‘Junaid from the Bronx’ always says:
“We can plan whatever we want, but Allah has the better plan.”
The New England Patriots thought they were going to win. The entire country including many NY Giant fans thought the Patriots were going to win. Allah taught us all a lesson. No matter how perfect, how strong, how undefeated a person or group can be, they can be defeated. The Patriots before the Superbowl were 18-0. No loss in the entire 2007-2008 NFL Season. After the Superbowl. Their win count remained the same at 18. The 0 jumped up to 1. Yes this is the will of Allah. So no matter how much George Bush thinks he’s in control, he’s not. Allah can take away the power within a few seconds as what happened to Tom Brady, Randy Moss and the rest of the Patriots. This goes to show you, no matter how much we plan or they plan or whoever plans, there is Allah’s plan. No matter how strong or powerful one side is, there is always the side Allah allows to win regardless of strength.
Congratulations to Eli Manning, Michael Strahan, Ahmad Bradshaw, Plaxico Buress, Amani Toomer, David Tyree and the rest of the New York Giants. We are the Superbowl XLII champions!
So today is the big day. The day when the undefeated New England Patriots take on the underdogs, the New York Giants. The Giants are on a 10-road-game winning streak. The Patriots are on a 18-game winning streak. Tom Brady and his team think they have a strong chance of winning. Most of the country thinks the Patriots will win as well. They are all wrong. New York knows the Giants will win.
InshaAllah, the Giants will win and the Patriots will go home crying.
My predicition: Giants 21, Patriots 17
May Allah (swt) give our brother Ahmad Bradshaw of the NY Giants and the rest of his team success. Ameen!
