Due to the overwhelming positive response that we’ve received online, from Australia, to California, to the UK, and the UAE, we’ve consulted with our team, and have decided to call off the upcoming relief event at Pearl Banquet Hall in Toronto on Saturday, June 27th. We’re going to aim a little higher.
We want to raise no less than $1 Million for our displaced and desperate brothers and sisters in Swat. We obviously can’t do this without your active support, promotion, involvement, and help.
The process is very simple.

Ask Not What Obama Can Do For You
Faraz RabbaniPresident Obama made some very important statements in his historic speech in Cairo earlier today. Many Muslims are excited, enthused by the positive tone and attitude. Indeed, Obama’s gestures were significant; his choice of symbols and issues, careful; and his message, hopeful.
As Muslims, we shouldn’t be armchair pundits, merely wondering whether Obama will follow is great words with real actions. Rather, we have to look at ourselves. We have to consider how we can positively engage; how we can get serious about learning and living the way of our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace); how we can get out of our shells and be people who spread the good not just in our communities but for humanity.
There is so much to do. We should stop asking what Obama will do for us; roll up our sleeves; trust in Allah; and do what we must, to make a change.
And Allah alone gives success.

Pakistan and its people are at war with the Taliban. A massive full scale military operation is underway in the picturesque region of Buner, Dir, and Swat; all an hour’s drive away from Islamabad. As the Pakistan Army fights pitched battles with the Taliban guerrillas, the biggest internal displacement of people since the partition of Pakistan from India in 1947 is currently underway. In just over 12 days, more than 2.3 million innocent inhabitants of the war torn area, who had for the past two years lived under the bloody rule of the Taliban, are now fleeing their homes for safety under the cover of darkness, as bullets and mortars fly overhead and pierce through the flimsy walls of their mud houses.
We should be ashamed of ourselves. I am ashamed and disappointed.
On Saturday May 16, 2009 at the Echo House Multi-Service Center in Baltimore City their will be meeting to pack and distribute sandwiches to homeless people at 10 am to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in serving humanity by providing for those in need.
