Man, I’m aiming for top 10, subhanAllah. Work kills my time man. I need to restructure my time usage.

  5. loser4life September 3rd, 2008 at 11:08 am

  12. dad September 5th, 2008 at 5:53 pm

  13. loser4life September 5th, 2008 at 6:17 pm

Mash’Allah Desert Star, keep up the good reading

  14. Afghan man September 6th, 2008 at 5:39 am

loser4life you need to update your current status, you’re way above this level!!

Also looks like that 3rd position just became really tough to secure, insha Allah i got it though

  15. loser4life September 6th, 2008 at 6:30 am

afghan man haha… i thought the email said every 2-3 days so thats why i sent rrryder my update, but i did now… Inshah’Allah im still in 2nd desert star deserves it more cuz he / she probably more busy then me

  16. Desert Star September 7th, 2008 at 12:11 am

Loser 4 Life, you’re definitely the main motivator, Alhamdulillah! I keep thinking you must have finished the Qur’an by now since there have been no updates, hehe!

But I’m unsure of going until the end of the month- we’re having guests from overseas (yea, in the middle of Ramadan!) Plus I have to work on a couple of projects. But nevertheless, as MR said- the more Qur’an we read, the more reward Alhamdulillah.

White Rose- You’re doing great! And everyone else too.
All those who haven’t started yet, please start soon, do not lose on the blessing of Ramadan when each minute is so much more precious!

  17. loser 4 life September 7th, 2008 at 12:19 am

yea i rrrrryder hasnt updated… i guess thats what happens where ur busy / married lol jk… just to let u know im on the 23rd juz, and most likely will finish monday morning, Inshah’Allah… May all of us be the winners in the hereafter, ameen

  18. A. September 7th, 2008 at 12:32 am

But hey, the guys have an advantage…
Girls have this certain problem every month, so I guess there should be some extra-bonus for the sisters…
    :’(

  19. White Rose September 7th, 2008 at 1:00 am

^ u said it sis. :) But it’s great that inspite of that we try our best to finish the Quran. :)

Thanks Desert Star. You and loser are amazing! MashaAllah. :D

  20. Aila September 7th, 2008 at 11:59 am

MR, update update update update ;)

  21. Vanessa Fatima September 7th, 2008 at 2:30 pm

    maan, competition is toughhh.
you guys in the thousands are awesome! who was top 3 last year?

  22. The Ghazzali Blogger September 7th, 2008 at 2:57 pm

to tell u guys the truth i was trying to finish the quran in one week and stupid school made me fall behind. But Alhumdulliah I have NEVER read the Quran this intensively EVER. So thank you so much for this competition.

  23. Afghan man September 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm

despite not reading at all this sunday, and barely at all on sat, i’m in the top 5,

i’m going for that third position, watch out!!!!

PS there’s ALWAYS time for the qur’an - i work full time and find time to read alhamdulillah :)

    50 min - train ride
    35 min - lunch
50 min - train ride home

    adds up :)

  24. Afghan man September 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pm

forgot to add an alhamdulillah up there :)

so this goes out to everyone in the top 7 - do you guys plan on trying to complete it one more time before the end of the month?

  25. loser4life September 7th, 2008 at 11:52 pm

Inshah’Allah with the will of Allah Taa’la i will try to

  26. Vanessa Fatima September 8th, 2008 at 10:24 am

I feel you Ghazzali Blogger, I haven’t ever read the Qur’an this intensely either :) jazakullah to MR for holding this competition. It’s seriously one of the best things I’ve done this Ramadan

@ afghan man: I’ll try, insh’Allah atleast one and a half.

  27. Faadiyah September 8th, 2008 at 8:01 pm

Slms - can anyone tell me how often the ayat above are updated?

  28. Desert Star September 8th, 2008 at 11:21 pm

Afghan man, how do you manage to recite the Qur’an audibly in the train?

  29. loser4life September 9th, 2008 at 12:27 am

  31. MR September 9th, 2008 at 11:05 am

@Faadiyah - I try to update every morning, since everyone floods my inbox.

  32. Faadiyah September 9th, 2008 at 2:00 pm

    Salaams

    Shukran for adding mr MR.

Desert Star & Loser4Life - i love the fun rivalry between the two of you. Its a wonderful motivator. I wish I could be up there with you, but I started my Hatam from juz 9 since I just wanted to continue from where I was before Ramadhan. So i’ll try to finish and start again till the 9th and I’ll be on par with you guys Inshallah!

Anyway, just one more thing. I wish Loser4Life would change his (?) name - you’re a winner in the eyes of ALLAH and us all!

    Have a lovely day!

  33. Bassam September 9th, 2008 at 3:29 pm

  34. loser4life September 9th, 2008 at 3:39 pm

@ faadiyah …. i’ve been getting this comment for the past 3yrs now… i like to say im a loser cuz to me cool = not praying, hanging out a lot, and not doing good in school… hence im a loser… Inshah’Allah all of you guys can finish cuz if a loser like me can.. u can too

  35. Faadiyah September 9th, 2008 at 4:29 pm

Well then Mr Loser, you’ve just started an all new “COOL” - Mashallah keep it up. perhaps all of us can start a new trend of what’s cool, like wearing hijab, performing our 5 salahs punctually & reciting quran!

  36. The Ghazzali Blogger September 9th, 2008 at 5:12 pm

Great thing about all this is I never even signed up for this Competition. I just got the E-mail saying I was on it. LOL. So all this is by the will of Allah that I’ve been reading so intensively for the 1st time.

  37. Faadiyah September 9th, 2008 at 5:23 pm

Mashallah Ghazzali Blogger….it just goes to show..Allah’s plans are better than our own…

  38. Faadiyah September 9th, 2008 at 5:40 pm

Mashallah Loser4Life - I just noticed you finished your Ghatam - that is so wonderful! I hope you have the duah for completing the quran - it is very beautiful and very powerful! My mom once told me that the moment you finish the last verse of the quran, a mala’ikah comes down and kisses you in between your eyes - Allahu Akbar!

If you can do one ghatam in a week - you can show us all how 3 or even 4 can be done!!!!

  39. loser4life September 9th, 2008 at 5:55 pm

Jazakl’Allah Khayr faadiyah…. alhamdulillah the Qur’an that i had a short dua and a long one… i didnt know that, alhamdulillah thats amazing, may Allah Taa’la give us all the ability to read his blessed book throughout the year, ameen… i dont know bout 3 or 4 ghatam’s but will try for another

  51. White Rose September 16th, 2008 at 10:02 am

Any particular reason why the standings are not being updated?

  52. MR September 16th, 2008 at 3:57 pm

    @White Rose - The reason is I’m lazy… :(

  53. Cookies September 16th, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Wow… I’m jealous hehe… 4 people completed… and another one on the way!!

  54. loser 4 life September 16th, 2008 at 6:01 pm

  55. White Rose September 16th, 2008 at 8:23 pm

@ MR - lol, it’s cool. I thought there was something wrong with my computer because no one else seemed to care that there were no updates. Oh and the ayahs recited are incorrect.

@ loser4life - Ameen and thanks. You’ve inspired a lot of people to keep going. :)

  56. Desert Star September 17th, 2008 at 3:38 pm

  58. White Rose September 18th, 2008 at 2:42 am

Thanks Desert Star. :) Yes, I’ve noticed that problem as well. Congrats to you too! All you guys at top 3 have been extremely tough to compete with this yr! MashaAllah. :)

Bassam, it was an error on MR’s part. I think he had forgotten to update the ayat number. :) It’s fixed now.

This is the first time in my life I have read diligently and with great interest in this short span of time ie 17 days. You all have inspired me. Asalaam

You can update mine * I will have completed 25 chapters of the Holy Qur’an by Eid.

Insha-Allah i intend to complete the remaining 5 chapters after Eid.

Btw people should not compete each other as a race as its silly and can bring pride and so on. Just my take on it .

May Allah(swt) accept our recitation - congrats to those who completed and those who have not please make sure you complete your recitation later this year ( i remind myself before any 1 else - *smile )

    Have a blessed Eid !

    peace

    Bro Sharaaz
