Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat has rejected the recommendation of municipal professionals and will not include the establishment of a well-baby clinic in the Silwan neighborhood in the coming year’s budget. The proposed clinic would have served some 100,000 Arabic-speaking residents. On the other hand, the 7,000 residents of the Old City’s Jewish Quarter will receive a well-baby clinic in 2010.
So 7,000 Jewish citizens can get healthcare for their babies, while 100,000 Palestinians can’t.

Britain has acted to increase pressure on Israel over its West Bank settlements by advising UK supermarkets on how to distinguish between foods from the settlements and Palestinian-manufactured goods.
The government’s move falls short of a legal requirement but is bound to increase the prospects of a consumer boycott of products from those territories. Israeli officials and settler leaders were tonight highly critical of the decision.
Until now, food has been simply labelled “Produce of the West Bank”, but the new, voluntary guidance issued by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), says labels could give more precise information, like “Israeli settlement produce” or “Palestinian produce”.

Do you ever wonder why there are some Muslims in America who openly support terrorist organizations and promote their literature/media online & on street corners and never end up in jail or arrested? While you have people like Dr. Aafia Siddiqui or Sh. Ali al-Tamimi or Imam Jamil al-Amin or Dr. Sami al-Arian locked up in jail for reasons that are out of this world. Makes me wonder if those Muslims who openly support groups that have been labeled terrorists by the American government are actually covertly not supported just inciters to create a trap for Muslims. There are Muslims in jail that should not be and there are Muslims that aren’t in jail that should be. It’s like Mandela in jail and Hitler free.
I’m probably wrong in my assumptions but there are two certain sites that literally for years have really bothered me. Both of which are run by American Muslims with the content that screams “send me to Guantanamo” but yet they are still living and enjoying the benefits of America while hating on it at the same time. There basically like the FOX News of extremists for Muslims. They only post things to get Muslims riled up and then the government comes in and arrests the ones caught in the trap (Toronto 18, NY-Colorado plot, Virgina Paintball guys, and more recently the Virginia 5 in Pakistan).

Update 5: CNN says they failed to join some Islamic schools:
“They went to the madrassa [a Muslim school] of Jaish-e-Mohammad where they informed them about their desire for jihad. However, the management of the madrassa refused to keep them, and advised them to go to Jamat-ud-Dawa Lahore. Interestingly, the Jamat also refused to keep them as they could not provide a surety. Thus, they came along with their friend Umar Farooq to Sargodha,” the report said.
Update 4: New York Times confirms arrests?
SARGODHA, Pakistan — Five young Muslim American men arrested here Wednesday were on their way to the heart of the Taliban sanctuary in Pakistan’s tribal areas with the intention of training to fight against American troops in Afghanistan, Pakistani police authorities said Thursday.
The men, a tight circle of friends in their late teens and their 20s from the Washington suburbs, had been in contact through YouTube with a Pakistani militant with links to Al Qaeda before arriving in Pakistan on Nov. 30, said the Pakistani officials, who had firsthand knowledge of the case.

The police identified the others arrested in Sargodha as Ramy Zamzam, 22, a dental student of Egyptian background at Howard University, who was described as a sort of “ringleader”; Waqar Khan, of Pakistani background, who was reported to have family connections in Karachi; Ahmad A. Mini, 20, born in Eritirea; and Aman Hassan Yemer, 18, a native Ethiopian.
Update 3: The owners of the Facebook group dedicated to the brothers closed it down saying: “We have decided with careful consideration to close the group out of respect for the family members of our brothers.”
